Two years and over 3500 miles traveled to see the Total Solar Eclipse in Spain. It was an adventure almost like the movie "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" when our transportation plans fell apart and had to resort to BlaBlaCar (a hitchhiking app) to go 6 hours north to our eclipse base camp in Oviedo. Train were sold out, No rentals available in Madrid, uber and taxi's wanted around $1000... Thanks to the incredible receptionist at our hotel that got us connected with driver on BlaBlaCar heading were we were. Kinda Scary getting a random strangers car in a foreign country, but we didn't have a choice... We Made it there, I had booked a rental in Oviedo in months in advance, but we got there a day later then planned and heard stories of companies canceling others cars... Avis did not! Morning of Aug 12th, eclipse day, it was cloudy along the north coast. We had to head south. The original plan was to spend the previous day scouting the country side for a great location, but we didn't have the option now. Drove south though the mountains, and emerging from a tunnel... CLEAR SKYS! We headed to Leon Spain, an area i had previously selected as a back up if the north coast was cloudy. It turned into a great day, in a 2000 your old city. 7pm came quicker then expected Got set up in time and kicked back to enjoy the view. Here are two pictures from the 2026 Total Solar Eclipse. The first image is totality such an amazing site! The second image is a composite of a series of time-lapse images overlayed on the foreground image. Can't wait for the next eclipse over north Africa in 2027!

With a nice break from the heat and rain, I took a drive down to Turkey Point NJ, I haven't been in a while, while still a beautiful location it has been scared with graffiti the last few years... the evening stated kinda over cast, but I could tell a good sunset was coming, and as beautiful as that was I ended up focusing on the heron rookery, while set up for birding with a telephoto lens, I did grab some sunset shots in between these shots of herons and egrets, enjoy!

Driving home tonight, came across some eagles and snow geese, seems the eagles were harassing the snow geese, and got lucky with a dead goose (probably froze over night) I might go back in the morning and see if can get some more shots of the eagles feeding on the dead geese, there were 2 or 3 carcasses...
