The Bay’s little fish are in big trouble and time is running out.

One giant factory fishing company, Omega Protein, and their fishing partner, Ocean Harvesters, extracts over 100 million pounds of menhaden every year from the Chesapeake Bay. These fish are essential to the Bay’s health. Virginia is the only Atlantic state that still allows this level of industrial extraction.

Omega Protein and its allies have continued to delay action for years. The company has broken harvest rules, pleaded guilty to Clean Water Act violations, blocked necessary science and stalled critical research.

Omega puts profits first while ignoring protections adopted everywhere else. No single company should decide the future of the Bay.
