Two years ago I had front row seats to the Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational and there were over 20,000 people. Marie and I camped out overnight. Thanks to my good friend Franco, who lives right next to Waimea, I had a parking spot in his garage and a place to shower and use the restroom. I grabbed a spot at 6:00 am on Saturday and we slept under the stars with thousands of people listening to the surf grow bigger and bigger until sunrise when they gave the green light. It was such an honor to shoot this event. Today the Eddie is on again and I can’t wait to see everyone’s photos. The waves are 30-35 feet right now. Here are just a few of the thousands of photos I took that day.

I shot the comet with my Sony tonight. It looks like there's a meteor in the first photo to the left of it and if you zoom in there 5 meteors.

This is a Buckhorn Cholla, native to the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts. Right now they’re flowering and they caught my eye so I decided to pull over and get nice and close so I could get the mountain in the background. Next thing I know I had thorns all over my lens. They were super sticky. I got in the car and realized I had one in my side and about 2 hours later realize I had one sticking out of the top of my ear 🤣. That one really hurt when I pulled it out!

Aloha Hawaii ❤️🌺🌸 you’ve been so good to us over the past 9 ½ years. I’ll miss all the friends we made, the best job ever and the best weather on the planet. We made so many memories with family and friends and went on MANY adventures. We’re looking forward to our new home and being closer to family again 🌺 a hui hou 🌺
