It wasn’t the trail we initially set out for, wasn’t the bird that was on my list to capture - yet somehow this turned out to be the one of the best pictures of the day, like a scene straight out of a whimsical Disney tale.

This was at Kensington Nature Center.

Tiny Little Posers

I wouldn’t be exaggerating when I say I could hardly identify a couple species of birds until two weeks ago. But since I dove into the rabbit hole of birding I find every tiny detail fascinating. I found about 30 species of birds over the weekend and none of them are rare by any means yet I never paid any attention before. I’ve a feeling that I discovered my own little Narnia- hidden in plain sight.

1. Grey Catbird
2. White-breasted Nuthatch
3. Tree Swallow
4. Red-winged Blackbird
5. Red-bellied Woodpecker
6. Northern Cardinal
7. Tufted Titmouse
8. Chipmunk, we found so many friendly ones that I had to include them.

Spring vibes are in full swing — a chat with a friend led me to the fact that Michigan is a hotspot for Warblers. Every May, tons of warblers make their way through Michigan, it was tricky and interesting to try to capture these tiny colorful birds.

These were taken at two different parks:

Sterling state parks’ loop was closed and I was disappointed initially but glad that I was still able to capture this beauty and it felt like a small victory as an amateur at bird photography.
