Connection. This is what I wanted to focus on for this film. I held onto moments longer. I listened for those sweet moments of conversation. I looked for ways where I could create small moments of movement and variety.

When I film, I try to plan part of the edit in my head at the same time! Do I have a good opening and closing scene? Enough b-roll to help to tell the story? Transitions that help to set the stage for the next scene? Variety of camera angles–wide, medium and close-up? Anchor footage that could be weaved throughout the film? Enough audio to help to tell the story? There is a lot that I’m thinking about during filming!:) I made sure to include lots of audio in this film. There were just so many sweet audio bits that included wonder, excitement and curiosity!!

Family Films are my favorite types of sessions! The kids don't have to do any posing. They could just enjoy being together. Blowing bubbles, playing on the swing set, playing basketball, looking through photo albums and taking the golf cart to the beach a few blocks away...it was the perfect afternoon!

Thank you Filming Life Academy for helping me to always think about these things while I'm filming. The Live Run Story-Driven course that I recently participated in was amazing.

Jess, thank you so much for placing your trust in me to capture your beautiful family! I loved putting together your film and really enjoyed spending the afternoon with you all! ♥

My calendar is open for anyone thinking about a Family Film this fall, winter or coming spring!

UPDATE: All set for this model call! Thanks everyone!!

Hello! I am currently running a model call! I’m looking for one family to collaborate with for a documentary-style film session on one of the below dates. This is for a family who feels open about capturing their everyday life in a story-driven way. Families must live in CT. I have openings this weekend on the below dates:

• Saturday, July 18
• Sunday, July 19
• Monday, July 20

This is a documentary film session. If you’re looking for a quick photo session, this is not that :) Within this documentary film session I would spend time with you and your family in your home for between 2-3 hours, capturing your everyday moments.

I am looking for a family with young children (toddler, preschool or young elementary age). I would love to capture some everyday moments both in your home as well as outside. I’m looking for parents who will set aside this time to play and snuggle with their children. I would love to capture the early morning hours of parents cuddling together with their kids in bed. Activities during the session can range from reading together, looking through old photo albums, gardening together, playing in the sprinkler, jumping on your trampoline, baking together, dance parties or playing make believe! It’s not about the activity– it’s about the connection.

In exchange, you will receive a finished family film that reflects your beautiful life and a memory you will be able to look back on for years to come. I will retain the rights to share the film for promotional purposes such as website, social media and portfolio.

If this sounds like something you would love and if you are available on one of the above dates, please reach out to me and apply through this link: kasubaphotographyandfilms.com/model-call

Or feel free to DM me and I will send you the application link.

Thank you!!
Sarah
