When I dreamed of growing up to be a Disney Princess, this is exactly the image I had behind my eyes. ✨

This has been a big, big year for our family. We opened the studio, Sean started a new job, and we've been going a million miles a minute trying to keep it all going. It's stressful, it's rewarding, and it's beautiful.

But then I stop and look at these photos. And I wonder, what better way is there to measure success?

Three healthy, strong, smart, and kind kids. A devoted, thoughtful, wonderful husband. A life we've built together.

I really did it, didn't I?

I'm also so thankful for my industry family. Heidi McClelland Photography captured these for us and handed them over so I could edit them in my own style. We've built a little circle of fellow photographers that I value so deeply, and I'm incredibly grateful for it.

I love you, sweet Heidi. I can't thank you enough for this gift.

Sweet home away from home. I thought I’d show you around. 🤎

Tucked inside a historic home in Downtown Milan, Michigan, this space is full of things I’ve collected, beautiful old woodwork, and little corners I love. It feels very much like me, and getting to create here still feels pretty special.

It’s also a space for you. Family portraits, newborn snuggles, headshots—or a birthday party, shower, or evening with your favorite people. Private event rentals even include photography, so you get to be in the memories, too.

Moody senior photos right up my alley. 🖤 (No, quite literally- it was in my alley.)

We kept Delaney’s session in and around the studio, and I love how much variety we got without going anywhere. Having a space to yourself where you can settle in and be you is a big part of why I love this place.

Coffee brought us together. Milan made it something special. 🤎

After a few years away, The Coffee Off returned to Milan—and I had the pleasure of photographing it all! A morning spent sampling coffee, discovering local favorites, and catching up with friends is a pretty wonderful way to bring a community together.

What began in 2014 as a small gathering of local coffee enthusiasts still has that community spirit at its heart. Whether you take your brewing very seriously or simply appreciate a good cup, there was a place for you here. And as both a photographer and a coffee lover, I was very happy to be part of it!

The last of the green before the change 🍃

I can’t say enough lovely things about the Bebber family. They’re kind, genuine people- and getting to photograph them on their beautiful property sure is a plus. 😉

We’ll tuck these green leaves away for now and officially head into full-fledged fall. 🍁

“Hey Emily, I don’t want the kids getting pictures through the school. Can I be there in an hour with both kids to take their school photos?”

Me: “I’m in my cozies, but say less.” 🏃‍♀️‍➡️➡️📸

Whatever the reason, I’m happy to take your school photos! It’s a cozy, calm environment, we have tons of backgrounds to choose from, and there’s no rushed assembly-line experience here.
