Motherhood is everything I dreamed of and so much more 🤍

The past two months with William have been truly the best days. Watching him grow and seeing his personality start to show is like nothing I’ve ever felt before. His big smiles, sweet coos, and curious eyes have completely stolen my heart. I love watching him discover the world around him, even if it means he’s growing way too fast.

No one could have prepared me for the rollercoaster of emotions that come with being a mom—the overwhelming love, the constant worry, the pure joy, and the bittersweet feeling of time slipping by. As I prepare to go back to work next week, I’m treasuring every moment and every snuggle just a little bit more. I wish I could freeze time, but since I can’t, I’m holding him close and soaking it all in—and of course sneaking him into the studio any chance I can! 📸🥹

HEYY, IT’S ME KAYLA! 👋📸

It’s been a minute since I introduced myself, so I figured it’s the perfect time to say hi and share a little bit about me!

I’m Kayla, a photographer and high school business teacher. I’ve been capturing memories professionally since 2019, but my love for photography started way back when I was the “mom-friend” in middle school—always carrying around my point-and-shoot camera, snapping photos of every little moment. 📷

I’m a travel-lover at heart and have explored 21 countries so far (with many more on my list!). One of my all-time favorite experiences was studying abroad in Florence, Italy. While Italia has my heart, I’m dreaming of the day I get to go back to Portugal! ✈️ As I grow my photography business, I’m excited to capture your love stories around the world.

Current coffee craving? A caramel and almond latte—because who can resist a little sweetness? ☕️ I always pack extra snacks for my shoots (I’m obsessed with cheddar rice cakes and frosted animal cookies at the moment) because there’s nothing like a happy, well-fed photographer!

But honestly, the best part of my job? Seeing which images my clients choose as their favorites and knowing they’ll be framed and treasured for years to come. Seeing a client’s smile when they get their gallery of special moments is the ultimate highlight. 🤍

This fall has been particularly busy with some exciting updates behind the scenes. I’m working on new content and branding that I can’t wait to unveil soon! Stay tuned! ✨

Cassie and Trevor KILLED their session! What I love most about engagement shoots is the chance to capture the excitement of being ENGAGED! For most couples, it’s the first time it’s starts to feel real. I seriously can’t get enough of that energy 🥹

✨Mike, Mike, Mike, guess what
day it is! ✨WHOOP WHOOP! We made it halfway through the week friends!

A little update for you all as to why I’ve been MIA in posting previews. Currently, I’m in my student teaching term for my Masters in Business Education. I submit my edTPA in ONE WEEK.. and let me tell you, I’m more than ready to have this checklist item off my to do list this fall. So far, I’m at about 23 pages of commentary, and I’m only about 1/3 of the way done.. Yes, you read that correctly.. it’s a wonderful experience.

What is edTPA?
-The edTPA is a national, subject-specific portfolio-based assessment of teaching performance that is completed by student teachers to demonstrate their readiness for a full-time classroom teaching assignment. Even though I’m in my 4th year teaching, I took a non-traditional route to becoming a teacher. This means that I didn’t go to school for education and never completed a student teaching placement. So basically, my path was a little backwards. 🤷‍♀️ Once I finish my masters program, I will be eligible to receive a continuing contract.. and cool it for a while on taking any more grad classes.

But on a more positive note, we have MEA break next week so I will get a little bit of a breather so soon. I'm submitting my edTPA on 10/20, so if you’re waiting on an inquiry response or gallery, I’ll be sending those out shortly after my submission is made! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for your patience and understanding. I think it is too easy as a small business owner to want to serve clients as soon possible, and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t taking a toll on my mental health that I’ve been falling behind on gallery delivery. I promise you all I will have galleries to you as soon as I can! 💕

I'm just gonna be manifesting ~only the best vibes~ for the next couple of days. I hope you are all having a great week so far and finish it off strong! 🙌🙌
