Getting ready for elk season takes more than gear and tags — it takes commitment long before opening day.

This is Jon putting in the work at home, training on RitFit gym equipment and focusing on the strength and endurance needed for steep terrain, heavy packs, and long days in elk country. In the background, the BLK.FLG flag is a reminder of staying locked in and ready.

One of the biggest advantages on our Colorado archery elk hunt was being able to stay mobile.

This truck and tent setup allowed us to get into places we normally couldn’t camp, giving us the flexibility to adjust with the elk and stay close to where we wanted to hunt. Being able to pull in, set up, and stay comfortably overnight made a huge difference over the course of the hunt.

When you can rest well and wake up already in position, it changes how you approach each day.

Sometimes the setup behind the scenes matters just as much as what happens in the field.
