April Fox Photography Michigan Wedding & Portrait Photographer I'm April, a full-time wedding and portrait photographer serving Michigan and beyond. No worries! I've got you covered!

I am a joyful person who loves to laugh and enjoy life. Are you afraid of being in front of a camera and worried you won't know what to do? I work with all my clients to help them feel relaxed, at ease, and confident in who they are. I combine traditional posing with a mixture of movements to create an experience unique to me. Whether you're graduating from high school, getting married, welcoming a little one, or simply interested in capturing this season of life, I want to turn your moments into lifelong memories.

Two questions I hear constantly about engagement sessions are what to wear and what location is best.

My honest advice is to pick outfits that feel like you, coordinated but not matchy, and comfortable enough that you can move, laugh, and forget about the camera.

As for location, it should mean something to you both, whether that is where you had your first date, a favorite park, or somewhere with a view you both love. I am always happy to talk through outfit and location ideas ahead of time so you walk into your session feeling prepared, not stressed.

Picking a wedding photographer is about more than just liking someone's portfolio, though of course that matters.

It is also about how you feel talking to them. Do you feel comfortable? Heard? Like they actually want to know your story, not just fill a time slot on your wedding date?

I want to encourage couples to have a real conversation with me before booking, so you can get a feel for how I work and whether we click. Your wedding photographer is with you for one of the most personal days of your life, that relationship should feel right from the start.

Well friends… we’re STILL not moved in! 😂🏡

We’re getting kitchen things unpacked and settled, and we’re really hoping it won’t be much longer! But between work, life, and everything else going on, we’ve had SO little time to actually work on the house. Time has definitely been working against us lately!

We’re creeping up on 18 MONTHS of this construction journey, and while we’re beyond excited to finally be nearing the finish line, we’re also getting a little tired of answering the question, “Have you moved in yet?” with a big fat NOPE!

But we’re getting there! Slowly but surely, this house is becoming HOME, and I cannot wait for the day I get to tell you we’re officially sleeping here!

So, let’s have a little fun while we wait!

🚨 NEW POLL! 🚨 If you answered my previous poll, those guesses will NOT count for this giveaway. This is a fresh start, so everyone gets a new guess!

👇 COMMENT BELOW with the specific date you think will be our FIRST NIGHT sleeping in the house! Your guess can be any date between now and December 31st!

Once we finally move in, I’ll go back through the comments and gather everyone who guessed the correct date. Those names will go into a drawing for a FREE 30-minute session in my BRAND-NEW photography studio… located right in the BASEMENT of our new house!

So, what’s your guess? Are you feeling optimistic, or do you think this house has a few more surprises up its sleeve?

Let’s hear those predictions! ⬇️

Everyone thinks about capturing the first dance and the cake cutting, and yes, I get those every time. But some of my favorite reception images come from the quieter corners, a grandparent watching the room with a full heart, kids sneaking extra cake, an old friend giving a toast that has everyone laughing and crying at once.

I stay present through the whole reception, not just the big scheduled moments, so your gallery reflects the entire feeling of your celebration, not just the highlight reel.

I also want to add the smiles and laughs at this wedding were endless, it was beautiful to see so many people who love this couple having so much fun celebrating them.

Newborn sessions are quiet, unhurried, and built entirely around your baby's schedule, not the other way around. I come to you, so your little one can stay in a familiar environment, and we go at whatever pace they need, with plenty of breaks for feeding and soothing. My focus is on capturing this specific details, details that change so quickly, the tiny fingers, the sleepy stretches, the way your baby fits perfectly into your arms, rather than forcing a shot list. If you are newly expecting or already counting down the days, I would love to talk with you about getting on the calendar for those first precious weeks.

From "yes," to "I do," to welcoming the newest little member of your family through senior year and beyond.
What a privilege telling your story is. ❤️

One of the most common questions I get while couples are building their timeline is how much time to allow for photos. My honest answer is always a little more than you think you need.

Rushed portraits tend to look rushed, and a few extra minutes for family formals, couple portraits, and golden hour photos makes a noticeable difference in your final gallery. When we plan your timeline together, I will walk you through exactly how to build in that breathing room without feeling like photos are taking over your whole day. It also gives you time to breathe and take some extra candid photos.

The best family sessions are rarely the ones where everyone is perfectly still and smiling on cue.
My favorite images come from the in between moments, a toddler running toward a sibling, a grandparent laughing at something a grandchild just said, a dog wandering into frame, uninvited or smiling with the rest of the family.

I will guide you through a few classic posed groupings so you have those too, but I always leave room in a session for real life to happen, because that is usually what ends up on your wall.

Once your wedding day wraps, the work is really just beginning on my end. I go through every single image, cull down to the best of the best, and hand edit your full gallery with care, not a one click filter.

You will get a sneak peek shortly after your wedding, followed by your complete gallery within the timeline we discuss ahead of time.

I want opening that gallery for the first time to feel like reliving your wedding day all over again, start to finish.

There is a reason photographers chase the last hour of daylight so hard.

The light softens, everything turns warm and a little golden, and it is genuinely one of the most flattering times of day to be photographed. On your wedding day, I always try to carve out time during golden hour for a short round of just the two of you, away from the crowd, with nothing to do but enjoy a few quiet minutes together.

It is often the calmest part of the whole day, and it consistently produces some of the most beautiful images in your gallery.

Senior sessions are one of my favorite kinds of portraits to shoot, because you get to be part of the creative direction.

Bring your personality, your favorite outfits, the places that mean something to you, whether that is a cozy downtown street, an open field, or somewhere totally unexpected. We will move through a few looks and locations, and I will guide you through posing the whole way so you never have to guess what to do.

A quick note on scheduling, senior sessions are booked on weekdays only, so keep that in mind when you are planning around school and activities.
