Middletown Art Group had its annual reception to kick off our exhibit at OCCC/ SUNY Orange. Congrats to our winners and we hope everyone enjoys the exhibit through June 17!

Come and join the Middletown Art Group as we hold our reception for our annual show at SUNY Orange/ OCCC today, 5/17/26. Our show runs through June 17. In addition to our regular show, MAG turns 80 this year and we are celebrating with an additional exhibit, “How Time Flies”, which is located on the back fringe wall at our OCCC exhibit. Check us out!

For April’s demonstration, MAG’s very own member, Rhoda Ryba, shared her process with us. Retired from 30+ years in hospital and health care management, Rhoda has recently found inspiration for her art in the Hebrew Bible. Thanks for demonstrating for us, Rhoda!

Today’s MAG demonstration was watercolorist, Marilyn Rose. She showcased her talents on a beautiful winter scene for our members. She worked quickly and took us through her process as she completed her work during our demonstration. Thank you, Marilyn, for painting for us today!

MAG had our reception to the 2nd Annual Garnet Hospital Show this evening. Our members got to showcase their artwork on the walls of the hospital. We love being able to bring smiles to peoples’ faces when they walk down the halls and see our members’ beautiful artworks.

This Sunday, March 15, at 12:00pm at the Mulberry House Senior Center, Marilyn Rose will share her secret to creating fresh, loose watercolors using photos as reference (rather than copying a photo). As she does her painting demonstration, a winter scene, she will talk about how to plan a composition, how decide which elements to include and how to use a more limited palette of colors to create a harmonious painting that seems to paint itself. Come check it out!

At our demonstration today, portrait artist/ illustrator Barbara Lanza shared with us her process and created a beautiful watercolor fairy for us. We really enjoyed getting to know her and watching her paint. Thank you, Barbara, for a wonderful demonstration!

Rescheduled from January is Barbara Lanza, an author and illustrator who will be showing us her process in creating her fantasy world of nature and fairies, among other fantastical creatures. The demo takes place this Sunday, February 15 at the Mulberry House Senior Center in Middletown at 1:30pm. Hope to see you there!

Due to inclement weather, our January demo/ meeting schedules for today, sunday the 18th, has been canceled. We will try to reschedule for February if possible. Stay warm and safe, everybody. 🙂 ❄️ ⛄️
