What started as a surprise proposal at Skylands Manor turned into an engagement session around the beautiful New Jersey Botanical Garden—and we couldn’t have asked for a better evening.
After the “yes,” we took some time to explore the grounds, taking advantage of the gardens, the incredible architecture of Skylands Manor, and that gorgeous late-day light.
I love when a proposal gives us the opportunity to slow things down afterward and create a full set of engagement portraits while all of that excitement is still fresh. Nico and Kelly made this one especially easy.

What an incredible day celebrating these two!
We started with a quiet first look and portraits along the Wesley Lake Bridge area in Asbury Park, where the sunshine, waterfront, and Heather’s flowing veil gave us so many beautiful moments. From there, family and friends gathered for a heartfelt ceremony before everyone headed over to Cross & Orange for an unforgettable celebration.
The dance floor never slowed down, the speeches were filled with laughter, and these two were surrounded by so much love from beginning to end.

A Sweet 16 portrait session fit for a queen. 👑✨
Leila absolutely owned the gardens in this incredible emerald gown.
We photographed her throughout Deep Cut Gardens, using the formal garden, colorful summer flowers, winding paths, stone walls, and golden evening light to create a collection that feels elegant, bold, and timeless.
Some of my favorite portraits are the wide environmental images that show the full scale of the gardens and that amazing dress—but we also made time for the quieter moments, close-up portraits, and meaningful photographs with her mom, Hector, and Hector’s mom.
Leila brought such a confident and joyful energy to the session, and every part of the evening came together beautifully.
