Caleb J Photography Capturing the beauty of upstate New York- I first became a photographer because of my love for the outdoors.

Since then my goal has always been to inspire people to get outdoors and enjoy the beauty that can be found in the wild. I want you all to see the fantasy in reality that nature provides. Too often we forget what a magical planet we live on. I think that most photographers would agree that what we do is a form of art. As an artist, my photography is an expression of how I see the world we live in. Thank you so much for letting me share that vision with you.

SUNY Cobleskill’s Equestrian Center. I was hoping to capture a closer image of the horses, but they were grazing off in the distance and the beautiful sunrise and white picket fence instantly caught my eye. No doubt, I will be returning for a closer look in the very near future.

I do not normally stick around to take pics once the sun is high in the sky, but sometimes the conditions are just too good. On this day, there was much rain the night before and a heavy dew clung to the tall grass and low lying vegetation. Everything was saturated with life and color. This is something I’ve been wanting to capture for quite some time now. A spider left her intricate web clinging to the stem of a Queen Ann’s Lace flower, which created a beautiful work of sparkling art, under the warm light of the morning sun.

There was absolutely nothing planned or thoughtfully prepared about this image. I visited the reservoir very early in the morning. It was still near dark when I arrived. I had been taking pictures of the sunrise reflecting off the water for quite some time. There was an abundance of milfoil just below the surface that created a very unique foreground. I had spent most of the morning trying to capture it. I finally had to pack up and head off to work, but on my way out I noticed some beautiful flowers on the shore. I checked the time and thought to myself “I still have a minute before I’m late.” I quickly took my camera out of my bag and opened my tripod. I got as close to the ground as I could and snapped a few shots, barely looking through my lens. I packed everything back up again, hopped in my car and headed off to work. To say the least, I was pleasantly surprised when I came across this image on my computer.

There’s something about a summer sunrise in Schoharie County. Something that speaks to me. Something that makes me feel alive. Something that tells me… I’m home.
