Such a beautiful event I was asked to photograph for a very special baby girl named Julia (who happens to be my grandson’s cousin). Her heritage is Puerto Rican & Korean and the whole party reflected all facets of the sweetness that is she. Julia is wearing Dol Hanbok clothing and her parents are in their Hanbok attire for this grand celebration.
The celebration for a 1st birthday in Korea is called Doljanchi. There are some images of Julia doing the Doljabi. This is the highlight of the party! The baby is placed in front of several symbolic objects and encouraged to grab one. The item they choose is believed to predict their future. So cute! The first thing she grabbed was an orange ball which symbolizes athletics. However, we think she only grabbed it cause it rolled towards her LOL. The 2nd item she went for was the stethoscope, which symbolizes Doctor 👏🏼The 3rd item was a microphone (which she refused to put down lol). This of course symbolizes a singer for profession.
Regardless, I know Julia will do great things. She has such an amazing family to keep her in check and on to a great path of excellence. I loved experiencing this tradition. It was my first and I can’t wait to photograph another someday.
🎂Happy 1st Birthday, Julia. 🎂
What a beautiful little girl you are. You are so very loved by your family. I am honored to have been a part of the celebration.
Everything was perfect!
The people, the food, the atmosphere… it was all just so very elegantly put together. 💕
I photographed the maternity for their son, then his 1st birthday. Then I photographed their daughter and now her 1st birthday. I love being a family’s personal photographer. It really makes me feel so blessed.
Thanks, Jeon Family for having us.
**If interested, the place they had this party was at The Party Place in OP**
