We met around 8am for breakfast at Norma’s, the open-air terrace restaurant that serves breakfast all day AND night. I had the scrambled eggs and bacon quesadilla. And a double espresso. My agent had something healthy, oatmeal stuff with fruit or something. Rudy walked in. Jeans, cowboy boots, a hat, and a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. The waiter kindly asked what he wanted for breakfast. In a split second and without hesitation he replied: “Bloody Mary, two please”

I knew this was my guy.
