Light is your best guide when choosing where to place your subject. Before adjusting your camera settings or posing your subject, study the direction, quality, and intensity of the light. The light will tell you where the most flattering angles and natural depth are. That’s why I always let the light lead the way—it shapes the image long before I press the shutter.
