This might be one of the wildest experiences in Kyoto. ππ―π΅
Around 120 wild Japanese macaques roam freely across the mountainside at Arashiyama Monkey Park, with no outer fence keeping them in the park.
Theyβre free to move through the surrounding forest, forage and head farther into the mountain at night.
You can even offer them park-approved foods like apples and peanuts from the designated feeding area, supplementing what they forage naturally. π
Even cooler: Kyoto University primatologists began studying this troop in 1954, and researchers still visit today.
