You probably don’t know my name. There’s a good chance you’ve seen my photos.

Hi, I’m Chris. Canadian, living in Miami, and I’m not a full-time photographer.

I’m a travel photographer, which is a slightly funny thing to be when you also have a full-time job. It means every trip counts. I plan around the light, I carry the camera everywhere, and I try to come home with at least one frame that says something about the place instead of just proving I was there.

Somewhere along the way a few of these won awards. One ended up on a magazine cover. Some got reposted so many times my name fell off them. I’m still a little surprised by all of it.

Here’s what I actually care about. Photography is how I stay in the moment. Not the photo after the fact - the act of looking. A quiet street at sunrise, a field of colour from above, a face I’ll never see again. The camera makes me pay attention, and paying attention is the whole craft.

The dream is simple. Travel the world, photograph beautiful places, share the art while it’s still fresh, and teach other people how to see this way too. This account is where that happens.

If you’ve been here a while, thank you. If you’re new, welcome. Now you know who took them.

Which one have you seen before?

You’ve seen the photo. You haven’t seen the moment.

A photo freezes one second. The video is what that second actually looked like - the scene still moving, the light doing its thing, the world carrying on before and after I pressed the shutter.

That’s my favorite part of this craft. These are real moments in real places, and they were going to happen with or without me. I just showed up, paid attention, and happened to have a camera. Now you get to stand there too.

That’s kind of the whole gig. Notice something, catch it before it’s gone, pass it along to someone who wasn’t there.

Swipe through and tell me which moment you’d have wanted to be in.

Every one of these had a window. Every window closed.

I’m Chris, an award winning travel photographer. Street photography, portraits, drone work, usually in cities I’m passing through with a few days and no plan. What I’ve learned doing it is that the gap between a frame you keep and a frame you miss is about four seconds of paying attention.

Not gear. Not luck, exactly. Just noticing something a beat before it resolves, and already having the camera somewhere useful. Composition and editing matter, but they’re the second half of the job. The first half is being awake for it.

The photos and moments I’m proudest of aren’t the technically hardest ones. They’re the ones I nearly missed and didn’t.

Which one would you have stopped for?
