Astronomical autumn starts Thursday, September 22, 2022. The official time of the Autumnal Equinox, when the center of the Sun's disk crosses the equator, is 8:04 PM CDT. The sun angle will continue to get lower in the sky over the Northern Hemisphere until the Winter Solstice in December. This means that starting today our days will get shorter and our nights will get longer.
