My name is Jenny Lai and I am the owner of Picture Perfect Studios. The best part of being a portrait photographer is preserving special moments in people’s lives. But there doesn’t need to be a special occasion to have your portrait taken. Sometimes it is simply the love that you feel for your family, or that your little ones are growing up so fast and you want to capture that moment in time. A very belated birthday post for my girl. ❤️

Lily turned 7 on September 23rd, and somehow the days just kept getting away from me. Between the studio, fall minis, editing, and life… I never even posted her birthday photos.

But I couldn't let another year go by without taking them.

I missed Year 6. And I promised myself I wouldn't miss Year 7.

While I was waiting for my fall appointments to start, I took my girl into the park with her giant 7 balloon and photographed her the way I see her right now.

Leopard wide-leg jeans. Black tee. Jean jacket. Doc Martens.

And this big, beautiful 7-year-old who suddenly doesn't look like my baby anymore.

I've been photographing Lily since she was tiny. I've documented so many of her little stages, little faces, little personalities… and now I'm looking at these photos and realizing just how much she's grown.

She's not a baby anymore.

She's not even really a little toddler anymore.

She's becoming this funny, confident, independent little person with her own style and her own personality and I swear I blinked and it happened.

Being a photographer means I have thousands of photos of her, but somehow that makes me even more aware of how quickly these years disappear.

So, two weeks late… Happy 7th Birthday, Lily. 🎈

I love you more than you'll ever know, and I'll keep photographing you for as long as you'll let me. ❤️

There's just something about fall in the park — the beautiful colors, the warm light, the cooler weather, and those little moments that happen naturally when families are together. ❤️

🎂✨ One year. One very happy little guy. 💚

There’s something so much fun about first birthday portraits — especially when you get to create a whole little world around their personality.

The balloons, the details, the outfit, the little props… and of course, that sweet smile that makes it all worth it. 🥰

First birthdays only happen once, but these little portraits give you something to look back on long after the balloons are gone.

The seasons change, but they keep growing. ❤️

It feels like just yesterday we were all talking about summer plans, and now the kids are back in school and we're somehow already looking toward fall.

And while the seasons change, so do our kids.

They get taller.
Their personalities change.
Their interests change.
Their little faces change.

That's why I love family portraits that aren't tied to a particular holiday or milestone. Sometimes you don't need a special reason to document who your family is right now.

Because six months from now, they'll already be a little different.

And honestly? That's worth remembering. 📸❤️

☀️ Apparently I still have some summer to share…

I'm back! ❤️

After a little time away, I'm finally settled back into the studio — and while going through some of my recent sessions, I realized there are still a few beautiful families I never got around to sharing!

So before we completely say goodbye to summer, here's a little more sunshine from this beach session with Mom and her three girls. 🌊☀️

There's something I love about photographing families at the beach. It's not just about getting everyone to look at the camera. It's the connection, the little moments, and capturing the different relationships within a family.

And sometimes… getting everyone to cooperate for one more picture is a victory in itself. 😂❤️

Summer may be winding down, but I still have a little more summer to share before we officially move into fall portrait season. 🍂📸

☀️ And just like that… summer is almost a wrap!

I can't believe we're already heading into the last stretch of August. This summer has brought so many beautiful families, little milestones, big smiles, and lots of memories in front of my camera. ❤️

I can't let summer come to an end without sharing a few more from this fun beach day! ❤️

Now it's time for a little reset before we jump into a new school year and a whole new season at the studio.

I'm looking forward to what's ahead — from back-to-school portraits and family sessions to all those beautiful fall colors that will be here before we know it. 🍂📸

I know we're still squeezing every last bit of summer out of August, but I have to admit… I'm already thinking about fall! 😍
