Hi Again!
It's me, and this week, I'm working on a challenge to introduce myself in a new way. Running Artfully Avant LLC is a challenge! It's one of my biggest joys. However, I struggle with sharing more.

So, today I'm working on a . I'm an introvert. Are you surprised? Well, if you met me while advocating, probably. However, if you meet me in my studio, it's different. I'm so protective of my art and ensure I capture the best you possible. I want you to love your images as much as I love taking them! That makes me special. It helps me be sure that I'm always offering you my best version! For all of my introverted ladies, let me know if you're interested in growing in a unique way!

Hi, let me introduce myself! I'm Heather, a passionate sickle cell warrior, mama of a beautiful 5-year-old, and wife to a wonderful husband. I’m the proud owner of a small business, Artfully Avant LLC., and I’m lighting the world of patient advocacy on fire! I’m constantly pursuing happiness and trying my best every day to break free of the prison of perfectionism. If I had to describe myself with one word, I would use TENACIOUS! I have a strong grip on all things me, and I’m doing my best day by day to be a better version of myself.

The things that make me tick are the smallest moments. The moments when no one else is looking, listening or feeling. I’m inspired daily by the world around me, from the subtle nuances of the evening sun dancing across the window curtains to the dramatic and bold shadows greeting me on the floors in the waking light. I love listening to the giggle deep from my son’s tummy when he finds something funny and feeling the breeze of the ocean wind while on vacation. I try my best to live in the moment and beauty of each day because it truly is a gift.

In noticing the details, I’m driven to photography. I’ve always been driven to capture the moments others miss. Etching them into tiny unspoken memories for me and others to look back on for generations to come. I was born to take pictures, and being a photographer is as natural as breathing. Little thought involved, just movement and the clicking of the shutter. The business side of things is a bit more precarious, with my logistical brain being stretched into many numbers. Then there’s my patient advocacy; I advocate for sickle cell disease. I advocate because equitable health care should be provided to all. I advocate to change the bias and narrative toward people living with sickle cell from the inside out. As a sickle cell patient, I believe that the tools for understanding change come from within the experiences I have lived.
