One of my favorite things about Wisdom Wednesday is getting to learn firsthand from people who have built something meaningful and learn from their experiences!

For this weeks post, I had the privilege of interviewing my mom, Barb.

Most people know her as a Realtor, but what stood out to me in her answers wasn’t how long she’s been in business—it’s her willingness to keep showing up, learning, and doing the hard things even after years of success.

A few things she shared:

🏡 Build your database from day one and nurture those relationships consistently.

📞 Success often means doing things that feel uncomfortable—like making the calls and asking for business.

👔 Treat your business like a business. Get dressed, stay organized, and create habits that help you stay productive.

🤝 Find your people. Mentors, coaches, partners, and accountability can make all the difference.

The biggest lesson I took away? Business is about people. The systems matter, the strategy matters, but at the end of the day, helping people is what has kept her passionate about what she does for more than 20 years!

When Zoe posted in a group looking for a photographer to do a creative and out of the box session to celebrate being halfway through her surrogacy, I commented immediately. I LOVE doing maternity shoots and then add in the element of getting some creative freedom.. sign me up! 😍

We quickly realized that a traditional “half baked” shoot, while super cute, wasn’t going to be the right theme! I remembered that one of my family friends, Greg Hadley, owned a flight school, I reached out and received a very quick yes from him on being able to use his planes for a “halfway there” session!

Greg not only let us use his planes, but he was so nice to walk us through some safety with them, let Zoe get into one of them so we could grab a few inside, and held the suitcases open when we got a little breeze! Thank you so much to Simplify Flight School for letting us use your location and taking time from your family to help us out!

I had the pleasure of photographing one of my closest friend’s beautiful family at the base of our beautiful Superstition Mountains before they headed back to Washington. I hate when they leave but we are so hopeful that I’ll be able to do some photos in Washington this summer so we can pay for flights 🙌🏽

For their privacy, we created a special ‘faceless’ set of images for online sharing along with a gallery of images for their personal use in their home and for their phone backgrounds 😜 If you’re a family who’d like a similar option, I’m happy to discuss this as a custom request. Every family’s comfort and privacy is different, and I totally respect that! ❤️

Most days you can catch me editing after I drop the boys off to school and before my shift at the bar! I’m so grateful for all of your support over these years. Because of you, I’m taking a leap—starting in June I’m opening up more availability on Mondays and Tuesdays as I move toward making photography my full-time dream. ❤️ I can’t wait to capture more moments with you!

Spring “school” sessions are available for the month of March! 🍎 📚🚌

I have seen a lot of parents that are choosing to skip school picture day this spring, so I wanted to provide an alternative option. 📸 These quick sessions are a great way to show off their smiles, their silly personalities, and most importantly as a mom myself, I try to make it a seamless and easy experience!
