If you could go back, which kind of location would you pick for your senior photos? The beach? The city? A field? The woods? In the water? A national park? A castle?

Rain on your wedding day - let's talk about it. If you have gotten married on a Saturday anytime during spring and summer and fall in the past two years, chances are pretty high that you either had rain in the forecast or your wedding day was a rainy wash. So what can you do?

1. Know that you cannot control the weather. It is what it is. The only thing you can control is your attitude. Do you want your wedding day to be joyful? Then embrace the rain! Have fun with it! Let it be a cozy vibe or a funny story!

2. Plan ahead. Look around your venue. Are there pretty spots you like that could be good spots for the first look, bridal party photos, or even your indoor ceremony? As your photographer, I will also be looking for these, but your opinion matters! If you are still looking for a venue, look for these spots ahead of time.

3. Lean into it! Be brave and play in the rain. Take pictures outside because you can! If you haven't seen the pictures from Amanda and Sam's rainy day wedding last June (shout out to them as the most adventurous couple who made me love rainy weddings until my dying days!), go look at them. They are a complete vibe! They chose to have their wedding outside with no tent in the rain because that's why they picked their venue, and it was the BEST! Don't be afraid of rain. Tell your guests the ceremony will be outside rain or shine, so plan accordingly.

4. Trust that I come prepared. I carry at least six clear umbrellas with me for you and your bridal group/family to use. I also have two clear shower curtains for people with long dresses to stand on so that your dress won't drag on the wet, dirty ground. It also allows you to sit and take pictures in different spots without wet butts. I've got your backs (and butts and bottoms of dresses).

At the end of the day, you will be married to your partner and start your new chapter. The weather is only a tiny detail. Your joy is the most important part!

Y'all, it is the last Friday of the school year (only because we have Juneteenth off)! It's time to celebrate with a Friday Favorite that is all about celebrating these newlyweds! I had the privilege of photographing Madison and Jared's wedding in Bartlett, New Hampshire, this past Saturday, and it was truly joyful. I absolutely love this photo of them together on the balcony after the ceremony. Jared's face perfectly summarizes how happy they both were to be married. The skies had finally stopped raining, so we were able to go take advantage of everything the venue had to offer. If you know me, you know that if there are balconies or fun architectural features, we are going to use them. I cannot wait to share more of their wedding photos with you!

Friends, I need help with some reviews. If you have worked with me in any capacity, I would love to hear about your experience and your photos! We live in a world shaped by making decisions based on others' experiences, so having reviews on Google and other platforms is crucial. This is a super helpful way of allowing me keep meeting all of you beautiful people who want fun, accessible photo sessions. All you need to do is review me here: https://g.page/r/CR2dBzzdewTiEAE/review

I have to tell you the truth. Documentary-style wedding and event photography isn't purely what just happens in the moment. Sometimes, you have to make your own moments.

I have met with a lot of couples who want someone who will photograph their wedding just as it happens, to tell the whole story from beginning to end so that they remember the details. That is exactly what I do. I want you to relive it all. However, if you want a special hug moment with your mom or a quiet moment to yourself before your first look with your partner, we need to make sure that we leave space and encouragement for that. Wedding days can be chaotic. You have hair, makeup, photos, a timeline, and suddenly everyone needs your opinion on things that you thought you had answered six weeks ago. You might get so caught up in the day that you forget to take a breath, so it is my job to gently push you in the right direction. I am setting you up for success, not creating false moments. We just have to push the timeline in the right direction.

If you are looking to create as much zen as possible for your wedding day and want someone who can guide you gently, I'm your woman. Let's tell your story.
