I have to tell you the truth. Documentary-style wedding and event photography isn't purely what just happens in the moment. Sometimes, you have to make your own moments.

I have met with a lot of couples who want someone who will photograph their wedding just as it happens, to tell the whole story from beginning to end so that they remember the details. That is exactly what I do. I want you to relive it all. However, if you want a special hug moment with your mom or a quiet moment to yourself before your first look with your partner, we need to make sure that we leave space and encouragement for that. Wedding days can be chaotic. You have hair, makeup, photos, a timeline, and suddenly everyone needs your opinion on things that you thought you had answered six weeks ago. You might get so caught up in the day that you forget to take a breath, so it is my job to gently push you in the right direction. I am setting you up for success, not creating false moments. We just have to push the timeline in the right direction.

If you are looking to create as much zen as possible for your wedding day and want someone who can guide you gently, I'm your woman. Let's tell your story.

This week's Friday Favorite is one of my favorite photos from Ali and Ben's engagement session, and it is extra special because they get married tomorrow! I love mixing in shots where we zoom out a bit to get the subject in context with the whole scene. The beautiful flowers and super tall trees were the perfect setting for their fun and romanticism, and the combination of all of it together just made the best shot. I cannot wait to celebrate them tomorrow!

For all of my wedding couples out there, let's talk about tips for getting the most out of your ceremony pictures.

1. Take your time walking into the ceremony. This is such a special time, and while you may feel like you want to run to be with your partner, slow it down a bit and soak it all in.

2. Hold hands with your partner throughout the ceremony. It adds so much more romantic feeling to your photos and helps to keep you grounded as the ceremony progresses.

3. If it's windy for your ceremony, have your maid of honor gently stand on your veil if it's a long veil.

4. Practice which finger your partner will put your wedding ring on before the ceremony. Trust me, it can get confusing when you are in front of others!

5. When you get to kiss, hold it for a count of three to five seconds. Do I want you counting in. your head and not living for the first kiss of your marriage? No. But I do want you to hold that kiss. Maybe even go in for a couple! This gives me a good amount of time to get the perfect first kiss photo.

6. For your walk back up the aisle, make sure you get your bouquet back from whomever is holding it. Then look at each other. Smile. Do more than just look at your feet as you walk out together.

7. About halfway up the aisle, stop. Kiss. Do a fun dip. Pick up your bride or groom. Dance. Do something fun! It's time to celebrate!

BONUS! Have me attend and photograph your rehearsal! I can give you instructions ahead of time so you are ready for the next day.

What other tips do you have for the soon-to-be married people?
