This photo is from my first family session in 2022. Needless to say I was terrified. I've come so far since then, developing more confidence and my own style thanks to everyone who trusted me to capture their memories. Snapping everyday moments is easier than ever with a camera in your pocket—but want your shots to pop on your feed?

This is a quick photo I took with my phone while we were out on a bike ride using these three quick tips. Try them out for yourself for better photos.

1. Avoid harsh light—direct sun creates unflattering shadows. Find shade or try different angles to find the best light and minimize harsh shadows
2. Framing’s everything—go into your phone settings and turn on the grid guide. Check what’s in the shot: Is it crooked? Something in the background you’ll regret later? Are you chopped off weird or drowning in empty space?
3. Clean your phones’s camera lens—a quick wipe with a microfiber cloth can turn a foggy or hazy pic into a crisp one.
