The Blob!
One of the many cool moments from last night's aurora show was a green "blob" that initially appeared around the Pleiades/Seven Sisters star cluster then moved up & down from there. I'd never seen anything like this before, but I learned it was associated with a more rare type of subauroral phenomenon called RAGDA (Red Aurora with Green Diffuse Arc). Amazing sight to see.

I also learned I can't stay up until 2:30 am and then work a full day the next day without being completely wiped out, so more pics to come tomorrow!

My 4-year old niece told me last night that she had a dream she was flying on a plane to Africa by herself and wasn't scared about being alone. Like aunt, like niece? I still dream about it every night too.

A memory of elephants at Samburu National Reserve...

I confess I did not know until recently that a group of elephants can also be referred to as a "parade", or, more poetically, a "memory". I've been unable to stop thinking of them since I returned from Kenya, so "a memory of elephants" feels like the perfect description.
