Family session season is officially here, and I swear this is exactly why I love it so much. 🍂🤎
Because someday, this little guy won’t fit quite so perfectly in their arms.
Someday those tiny hands won’t reach up to grab Dad’s nose. He won’t need Mom’s shoulder when the world feels a little too big. He won’t think being tossed into the air by Dad is the greatest thing that has ever happened to him. And Mom and Dad won’t spend quite so much of their lives with a tiny human planted directly between them. 😂
But right now? This is their season.
The belly laughs. The baby toes. The bow tie that may or may not stay where it belongs. The snuggles, the chaos, the little glances between two people who are raising a whole human together.
Those are the things I want to photograph.
And yes — if you let me, I will absolutely steal your baby for a few minutes so Mom and Dad can have photos together, too. Because somewhere between diaper bags, bedtime routines, snacks and keeping another person alive, couples tend to stop getting photographs of just them.
You’re still part of this story, too. 🤎
We spent this gorgeous golden evening wandering around Prospect Park, letting their little guy lead the way, playing, snuggling, laughing and sneaking Mom and Dad away for a few photographs of their own. No need for everyone to look at me and smile the entire time. Give me the real stuff. That’s where the magic lives.
And with that… family photo season has officially begun! 🍁 My fall calendar is already filling much faster than it looks from my side of the camera, so if updated family photos are on your “we really need to do that this year” list, now is the time to get on the calendar.
Because babies don’t keep. Seasons change. And someday, these ordinary little moments become the photographs you’d give anything to step back into for five minutes.
