Some might say Three cameras for one interview might be a little much. But if we’re bringing three, I want three completely different looks.

For this setup we had an FX6 as our Acam with a traditional interview angle, a 2nd FX6 practically sitting on the floor using the windows to frame our subject, and an A7S III riding a slider with a short-sighted composition that gave us something completely different.

These were emotional, personal testimonies, so I wanted the visuals to feel that way too. Not just three clean corporate angles , but something with a little more personality and intimacy.

We definitely brought enough lighting to raise the temperature in the building a few degrees 😂 but I loved how this setup came together.

Sometimes this job is just finding a cool room, filling it with entirely too much equipment, and figuring out how many different ways we can tell one story. What a fun day!

This is technically a State of the City video, can you tell? Spent the day at Agave Mexican Restaurant shooting one of this year’s Business Spotlights. We captured food, kitchen, bar, service, ribbon cutting… pretty much everything.

I love that city videos can look like this. You don’t always need someone sitting in front of a camera talking about economic development. Sometimes you can just show off a great local business and the people behind it.

Big shoutout to Andrew Badillo and Joshua Vazquez for killing it with me on this one. Always appreciate having a crew I can trust to jump in, figure things out and get the shot.

And a special shoutout to Elijah Robert-Mahdi Soto from Cause To Become Media, who basically became our unofficial BTS department for the day. He shot a TON of vertical footage while we worked and then Dropboxed everything to me afterward. Seriously appreciate you!

Now to somehow turn an entire day of footage into three minutes.

Some shoots are just more fun than others!Give me a couple cameras, some massive construction equipment, and permission to get a little dirty and I’m pretty happy.

Spent the day with Josh capturing a Granite Construction project in action. Infrastructure might not sound glamorous, but put one of these machines in front of a camera and it gets cinematic pretty quickly. Another good day in the field.

State of the City season is officially underway! I’ve produced more than 50 State of the City videos for dozens of cities across Southern California, and every year starts with the same challenge: How do you make this one feel completely different from the last?

This year’s Eastvale series is built around “The Stories That Make Us,” so we spent less time chasing polished sound bites and more time having real conversations. The goal isn’t just to tell people what happened this year. It’s to help them connect with the people behind the titles.

Now comes the fun part, turning hours of interviews into stories people will actually remember. Can’t wait to share the finished series.

There’s something special about the Fourth of July in a city like San Jacinto. The parade. The music. The local businesses. The community groups. Kids waving flags, neighbors catching up, and families making memories together.

Every city has its own personality, and community events like this are where you really get to see it.

Looking back at one of last year’s celebrations before we head out to film this year’s.

Most State of the City videos focus on projects and accomplishments. For this one, we decided to follow Mayor Phil Ayala around San Jacinto for the day.

The goal was to showcase local businesses, city departments, new projects, and the personality behind the title. Along the way we visited the city garden, checked out the pickleball courts, met with local business owners, and worked in a few laughs too.

Civic storytelling doesn’t always have to be serious. Sometimes it can just be fun.

City of Indio + Albert A. Webb Associates. When I first heard about this project, my reaction was basically: “Okay… it’s a storm drain project.” But the more I learned about it, the more interesting it became.

What started as an infrastructure project turned into something much bigger. The City of Indio and Albert A. Webb Associates found a way to improve stormwater infrastructure while also creating a more inviting, beautiful downtown experience.

That idea ended up shaping the entire creative approach for the video. Instead of treating it like a traditional engineering project, we wanted the visuals, music, editing, and pacing to reflect the energy of the revitalization happening throughout downtown Indio.

I love discovering what makes a project unique and building the creative approach around that idea. For this project, the story wasn’t just about infrastructure. It was about creating a place people want to spend time in. Super happy with how this one turned out.

School’s out for summer, which means whenever I can, I bring my boys on set. Not to watch. To work.

This week, that meant building cameras, organizing gear, checking focus, monitoring audio, and helping operate cameras during a live production.

Will they all end up in video production someday? Probably not. That’s not really the goal. The goal is giving them real-world experience, real responsibility, and the chance to learn skills that go beyond a classroom. Showing up on time. Being prepared. Paying attention to details. Working with a team. Taking ownership of a job and doing it well.

Video production just happens to be the vehicle. One of my favorite parts of what I do is getting the opportunity to share it with my kids and watch them grow in confidence along the way. And I couldn’t be prouder of him, he did a great job.

Breaking ground. Not just in construction, but in ideas, investment, and the future of a community.

For Eastvale’s State of the City Economic Development & Infrastructure video, we wanted to capture that feeling of momentum and progress.

Fast-paced edits, construction imagery, gritty narration, and a whole lot of energy. Every creative decision was designed to reinforce the theme of “Breaking Ground” and reflect a city that is constantly moving forward.

Economic development is often the engine that drives a city’s growth, and we wanted this piece to feel like Eastvale itself: ambitious, energetic, and always building toward what’s next.
