I'm a teacher, and I swear I learn just as much from my students as they learn from me. I love to follow the curious minds of students down their individual learning paths.

Seniors are at a particularly exciting part of life, and I love that about senior sessions. I learn from them in every session too. I am excited for them as they share their goals and dreams with me. Their enthusiasm for life is contagious. Seniors seem to get my sense of humor a little easier too lol. Emalynn was no exception. She had no shortage of raw honesty and sarcasm during our late October session. šŸ˜†

I had the best time photographing Ryli, Tyler, and their beautiful family. Now I can't decide on just a few photos to share, so here are a bunch. šŸ˜†

I have been lucky enough to have known Ryli & Tyler since before they had babies of their own. So when they asked me for a photo session, I was so excited that they were up to recreating their high school dance photo that we had taken years ago, but with their beautiful children in it this time (peep the last pic of this bunch)!

Hey guys! My beautiful niece / goddaughter graduated high school. I feel so lucky that I got to hang out with her and take photos - and share a few with you. We had a blast! It’s like I blinked and she’s grown, but I’m so excited for this kiddo’s future. Proud of you Marly!!

My cousin asked if I could photograph all of her parent’s grandkids. They had taken a photo in the past with all of the kids in front of the tractor, and I got the privilege of photographing them in the same positions, but with the additional grandkids in this one. I hadn’t seen the previous photograph until after I shot this. It was so fun to see them side by side, and such a cute idea!

Shout out to grandpa Kenny for shining up the tractor. And shoutout to this big family I get to be a part of. I am so proud of every individual in this photo, their parents, grandparents, and great grandparents too!

When my phone rang and I saw Ben’s name I thought, he must be making a trip home. It must be time for a trip to Pizza Planet (Marchelloni’s). Instead, we caught up a bit and he asked me if I’d photograph his family at the lake where they had a tree planted in memory of his mom. Of course I said yes!

Ben and I were friends through high school. We drove to a college speech class together after we both had graduated. I always spent hours on my speeches, stayed up late writing and re-writing, and stuttered when it was my turn to present. Ben on the other hand, wrote his speeches with a pencil in my car on the way there and always aced it.

I met Ben’s parents when we went to homecoming together (my only homecoming date ever). His dad was cool and his mom was so kind. Ben really is quite the combination of the two of them. After college I met the rest of his siblings, Jolene and Katy who are a couple of sweethearts. And Zach, who made fun of someone when they were being mean to me the first time I met him, which made him instantly pretty great in my book lol.

These guys gathered from 3 states for this photo. Together. With their mom’s tree encompassing them. I’ll be honest, I had tears in my eyes for this one. Because they’ve been through it. And they’re still standing strong. Because they’ve had the courage to go out and live their lives regardless. Because they’re not too busy for each other, as they know better than many, that our time is limited. And their mom, I know, is so proud of all of them.

When the photo shoot is over but you don’t want to leave šŸ˜† that’s how I felt with the Mackenzie’s.

I’ve known Jake since high school and we have had quite a few wild experiences together. Thinking back, he actually got me out of some pretty crazy situations. Now that we have grown and have our own beautiful families, those stories will probably only ever be told as warnings to our kids šŸ˜…. Photography has a way of keeping me in the loop with friends I never want to lose, while simultaneously living the busy family life (blows my mind that there have seriously only been 24 hours a day our whole lives).

Jake hit the jackpot with Laura, šŸŽ° his gorgeous wife, and their two sweet children. I am honored to be able to photograph this family.

I honestly learned so much in such little time during this photoshoot, thanks to the fun loving & laid back energy of this fam. I am so grateful for the opportunity to step back into my flow and photograph them!

Guys. I'm reallyyy bad at Facebook updates. I had the privilege of photographing an Engineering Conference on Wednesday. It was such a great experience! One thing I love about being a photographer is that I get to go to places I would otherwise never have gone. There's so much pushing out of my comfort zone that forces me to grow as a person and as a photographer. I learned so much Wednesday and met some awesome and inspiring people!
