One of my goals is to expose viewers to people and cultures that they have little knowledge about. Lack of knowledge often leads to misunderstanding. I am most interested in the stories of those who are misrepresented by mainstream media.

Two days on the White Rim Road and everything was going perfectly… until the last 15–20 miles.

Somewhere along the way my Jeep decided to start making a popping noise from the driver’s side suspension whenever I was in 4WD. U-joint? Ball joint? Something expensive? Who knows.

Then came one of the final steep climbs out of the canyon. I honestly wasn’t sure if I was about to drive out or become a very expensive recovery story.

I’ve never been so stressed behind the wheel. Every pop had me imagining worst-case scenarios.

But somehow the old Jeep clawed its way to the top. When I finally stopped, I practically had to peel my hands off the steering wheel before taking the deepest breath I’ve taken in a long time and cracking open a Red Bull. You know it gives you wings and I could have used them just about then.

One climb down. Two more to go. The Jeep is wounded, but I just might make it.

Now that I watch this clip I realized what a beautiful piece of the trail I missed being hyper focused and stressed.

It’s a good day to be on the trail.
