Memphis Music Initiative stands with Kylah Spring.

Kylah, who we are blessed to know and love through the MMI Works program, was physically, verbally, and racially assaulted by a fellow student at the University of Kentucky on November 6. We fiercely denounce anti-Black racism, and while we know that this will not break Kylah's spirit, we also know that there is no shortcut to healing. We will continue to support Kylah and her family as they navigate the ripples of this traumatic event. Beyond general apologies, we ask that the University of Kentucky step up and provide Kylah with any and all supports she might need towards her full healing.

We will continue to fight for all of Memphis' young people, to work to dismantle the systems of white supremacy that makes incidents like this all too common, and to wrap our students in the love and support of their community. Say her name.
