Left another piece of my heart in Virginia after visiting with family for the week. For those of you who don’t know, my big brother has been fighting stage IV colon cancer since 2022. And I mean fiiiiighting. He’s done years of chemo & radiation, clinical trials, had two brain surgeries. All the while looking at this photo from this past spring you’d never know. Family photos have tugged at my soul since I was a little girl. The stories interlaced in them, the way that they transport you through memory and time. The way they bring people together literally and figuratively. Hold them close. Hold them closer. I’m back in Florida now but looking at this now, I’m transported to Virginia with my family. As they settle into their new normal of hospice care at home. I’m sharing stories and jokes with my brother and sister in law. Hugging and teasing my nephews who are both way taller than me and all grown up now. Watching old home movies and reminiscing about the good ol’ days. I’m here and I’m there. ❤️
