Dad brought his high school football to the session so of course we had to pose little man with it! I always encourage parents during their consultation to bring in items that may be fun for the photos. Nursery items so their portraits match their home. Crocheted clothing from siblings or made by grandparents. It’s one of the best part of my job. Getting to incorporate your personal items into your new memories so everything is seamless and beautiful.

Taking family photos is highly underrated. It isn’t just taking a picture. It’s creating a full evening of memories. I don’t just ask you to stand and smile. I’m telling mom and dad to let the kids run while they embrace and think of themselves for a few moments. I’m making babies laugh and inventing ways to get toddlers to smile at the camera when mom says “he’s a difficult one for pictures”. I’m finding happiness and laughter in the small moments. I create games for the kids to do so that I can capture real smiles not forced ones. I do my best to make each member of the family feel comfortable and excited to be there. Sometimes I stop my clients mid sentence and tell them to freeze or “go back exactly how you just were” and they look at me crazy because usually we haven’t started the official shoot yet. Sometimes those candid shots just come out of nowhere and make the most gorgeous portraits. I always see a vision of how I want the final image to come out as I’m with my clients beginning to end. This time of year sunrise on the space coast is about 6:30 AM give or take a few minutes. Booking a sunrise session is a labor of love for all parties involved. Mom is up at 4:30-5AM getting ready for the session. I’m up just as early packing my gear/readying it for the sand and double checking my check lists so the session goes perfectly.
