This is the fledging of Red-headed Woodpecker Chick #2. When it left the hole it didn't go far outside the tree. It then decided to do a wing-check, shortly after, it fell to the ground.

I just went through my final batch of Moose photos from June. This Moose was chowing down on plants in the late afternoon in a pond along the Golden Road. I took the photo from a kayak. Looking forward to going back in the fall.

The pair of Red-headed the Woodpeckers I have been following just successfully fledged two chicks on August 10th.

A Red-headed Woodpecker often hops around on the dirt or grass like a robin to catch insects or pick up fallen nuts. I wanted to see if I could capture this. To get this photo, I sat low to the ground in a dirt parking lot hoping the Woodpecker would return to a spot I had seen it earlier. After About 1 hour, the Woodpecker landed right in front of me.

Here is a capture of the Red-headed Woodpecker mid-hop hunting for food!

Camera Settings:
Canon R5 II
500 F4 + 1.4 TC, 700mm, 1/1000, F8, ISO 500, tripod, remote shutter
