There comes a point when you realize your business has grown…but your brand hasn’t quite caught up.

Maybe you know your business is capable of more and you want your brand to reflect that.

Maybe you’re simply ready to raise the bar on your brand.

Or maybe you know you’re great at what you do, but the way you’re showing up doesn’t reflect the level of work you’re doing.

Hi, I’m Shawon (Shuh-wawn). I’m a brand photographer specializing in helping women entrepreneurs confidently show up as the face of their brand.

And here’s something I’ve learned from working with women in business:

As you grow, your brand needs to grow with you.

That doesn’t always mean starting over.

Sometimes it means becoming more intentional about how you present yourself, what you communicate, and how visible you’re willing to be.

So take a look at your brand today and ask yourself...

Does my brand reflect the woman and business I’ve become?

If the answer is not quite…stick around. I have something coming that I think you’re going to love.

A little birthday magic in the studio...

Yes, please🩷

I recently had the chance to welcome my past client, Miguelina, back into the studio to celebrate her birthday, and we had so much fun creating this set!

She is a true creative and amazes me every time we work together.

And of course we had to bring in lots of bold COLOR.

Let's gather in the comments and talk about the vibrant oranges and the pinks.

All of it came together so beautifully and felt like the perfect way to celebrate another trip around the sun.

One of the things I love most is getting to welcome clients back into the studio for the special moments and milestones along the way.

Sometimes it’s a new season in their business.
Launching a book.
A new offer or exciting announcement.

And sometimes, like this day, it’s celebrating your birthday💕

If you're wondering...yes, we can do this at your brand photoshoot too!

Spent some time resetting the studio today…but for a different reason.

I’m officially getting back to creating for my YouTube channel, and I’m so excited for this next season of sharing, teaching, and creating.

Today was whole lot of...
📦 Unboxing some new gear
🎤 Testing mics
💡 Testing lights
🎥 And getting ready for a full content filming day tomorrow

Sometimes a fresh start really does begin with clearing the space, setting everything up, and getting ready to press record.

Here’s to the beginning of the 'ber months✨

The question I get most as a brand photographer...

“What do I do with my hands?”

Usually followed by...

“I don’t know how to pose.”
“I’m so awkward in front of the camera.”
“You’re going to have to tell me what to do!”

Here’s the good news...

You don’t have to know how to pose.

That’s my job.

When you step in front of my camera, I’m not expecting you to already know where to stand, where to look, or what to do with those hands.

I’m going to guide you through it.

Sometimes that’s a specific direction. Other times, I’ll have you move, look away, reach for something, reset and do whatever it takes so you feel like YOU.

Because the goal isn’t a bunch of stiff poses.

It’s images where you look and feel like you.

So if posing has been the reason you’ve been putting off your brand photos...

You can officially take that off your list of things to worry about.

Just show up.

I’ve got you, hands and all. 😉📸

I’m currently booking fall sessions so if you’ve been thinking about brand photos, let’s chat. Send me a DM and let’s connect✨

What are you waiting for...

My dad came to visit this summer and got to see my studio for the very first time.

We'd taken some photos but I felt compelled to push record on this moment too because now seeing the smile on his face is priceless.

I had only owned my camera for about six months when I had this crazy idea that not only was I going to become a photographer… I was going to start a business.

I know...I told you it was crazy!😊

And when I shared that idea with my dad, he gave me some of the best advice I’ve ever received...

“Don’t wait around for someone to tell you who you are. Go, do the work, and become.”

Those words gave me the courage to move forward then, and they still keep me pushing forward today.

Over the years, I’ve been blessed to photograph and work with so many amazing clients from families to weddings to now women entrepreneurs and other opportunities I could have never fully imagined back then.

I'm grateful and I'm still becoming.

So this week’s Behind the Lens is for anyone who’s waiting.

Waiting for permission.
Waiting until you feel ready.
Waiting for someone else to validate the thing you already feel called to do.

Maybe you don’t need to wait.

Go. Do the work. And become.

We all start somewhere. And if you want to show up more confidently without overthinking every step, start with these three habits.

If we haven’t met, I’m Shawon (Shuh-wawn). I’m a brand photographer specializing in helping women entrepreneurs confidently show up as the face of their brand.

If showing up doesn't come naturally to you, trust me you're not alone.

And the best part?

You don't have to go from hiding behind the scenes to suddenly being everywhere.

Confidence can be built one small step at a time.

Here are 3 habits that can help you start taking action.

✨Start with small intentional actions toward being more visible.
I'm talking one step at a time and start where you are.

If you're not ready to show up on your feed yet...
start with your stories with a behind the scenes moment from your day.

Thinking about video...record the video even if you don't post it yet.

Every time you take one of those small steps, you're practicing being seen. And over time, what once felt uncomfortable can start to feel a little more natural.

✨Pay attention to what you're consuming.

If you're constantly scrolling and comparing yourself to what you see online, it's going to affect how you see yourself.

Let what you consume inspire you and not make you feel like you have to look, sound, or show up like someone else.

✨Remember who you're showing up for.

When you start worrying about how you look, what people might think, or whether you're doing it “right,” shift your attention to the person on the other side.

The woman who needs what you know.
The client who's been looking for exactly what you offer.
The person who may take her next step because something you shared made her feel seen, heard, or encouraged.

Imagine all of the people you get to serve simply because you made the decision to show up.

That's the shift.

Just take the first step.

And the next.

Then another.

Because the more willing you are to show up, the more opportunities you create for the people you're here to serve to find you.

Save this. Screenshot it. Put it on a post-it note on your mirror if you need a reminder.

Keep shining✨

One of my favorite things about working with women founders and business owners is helping them create a visual brand for where they’re headed next.

I am SO excited for Erin and the season she’s stepping into💕

She’s building something beautiful around helping women live more intentionally, feel good in their bodies, and move through the second half of life with greater purpose.

And there are so many good things brewing for her. I won’t spill all the beans just yet, but trust me...you’ll want to stay tuned.

For her brand photoshoot, we wanted to create more than beautiful photos.

We thought about the woman Erin wants to reach and the life she’s inviting her into.

And I LOVE what we created.

But even better was getting this message from Erin after leaving the studio...

“I can’t thank you enough for the photos. Came out better than I ever could have hoped for. Thank you so much. I’m thrilled.”

That made me so happy because everything Erin envisioned for this next chapter and everything I could see her brand becoming, came together.

This is one of my favorite parts of brand photography: helping you create photos for where your business is going, not just where it is today.

Go follow Erin at erinzell_healthandwellness

I have a feeling you’re going to want to see what she does next.💕

Got 5 minutes? Let’s start mapping out your next brand shoot so you walk away with photos you can actually use throughout your business.

👋 If we haven’t met, I’m Shawon (Shuh-wawn). I’m a brand photographer specializing in helping women entrepreneurs confidently show up as the face of their brand.

One of the biggest mistakes I see with brand photography is starting with, “What photos should I take?”

I want you to start somewhere else.

Start with where your business is going.

What are you working toward over the next 3–6 months? Are you launching something new? Updating your website? Speaking more? Trying to become more visible as the face of your brand?

Then think about what you need your photos to communicate.

How do you want people to feel when they come across your brand? What do you want them to understand about you, your work, and the experience of working with you?

And finally, think about where you’ll actually use the photos.

Your website. Social media. Email marketing. Speaking opportunities. Podcast features. Launches. Your about page.

Once you know those three things, then you can start building your shot list, choosing your outfits, thinking about locations and props, and planning the different stories you want your photos to tell.

Because the goal isn’t just to walk away with a gallery of pretty photos.

It’s to walk away with intentional images that support your business and make it easier for you to show up.

Save this before you start planning your next brand shoot. 📌

Because at some point, your business needs more than a logo, a color palette, and beautifully designed graphics.

It needs you.

Your clients want to know the woman behind the business. They want to see who they’re learning from, working with, trusting, and investing in.

And I know getting in front of the camera can feel uncomfortable...

Especially if you’ve spent years letting your work speak for itself.

But visibility gets easier when you have photos that actually feel like you.

Photos that reflect your personality.
Photos that show your expertise.
Photos that make showing up and creating content so much easier.

You don’t have to wait until you feel completely ready or completely confident.

Sometimes confidence comes after you decide to show up.

Future you will be glad you did.

Keep shining.✨
