It has been quite a while since I posted photos and awhile since I have been out to take photos but yesterday I was able to get out even though it was raining and very grey I was able to capture some photos!

This weekend I was able to get the Owl Cam working. The Battery went completely dead and the solar panel wasn’t hooked up correctly and now it is all fixed and working correctly. Now we wait patiently for the Eastern Screech Owl to return. Here’s a few clips that I captured this morning I had a European Starling, House Sparrow and A Bluebird visit the box today.

The Owl Box Camera is set and running good. This camera is currently powered by a rechargeable battery with a small solar panel to a charge on the battery. Now we wait for the owl to come roost and let’s hope they nest this year 🤞🏼. Hopefully soon I will have this live streaming to YouTube.

Today I was able to get out to do some backyard bird photography with my new camera (Canon R6) since it was warmer out today. I also love the Animal Eye AF and does very well with small birds.

I have checking my owl box every few weeks to see if there is any activity since my trail camera just gets covered in snow and doesn’t capture anything. This morning I went out sure enough trail camera is covered with snow and the Eastern Screech Owl is back!!! I’m highly considering adding another Green Back Yard box camera to this because how awesome would it be to watch this beautiful owl all the time without disturbing it.

For a few years now I’ve had a owl box hanging it has seen 3 different locations and always had either European Starlings or Squirrels that took over the box. Well yesterday I decided to check the box not only did I startle the Eastern Screech Owl (Red Morph) but he startled me as well. I quickly snapped a photo and I let him be to rest.

It was a Snowy Sunday morning! What a surprise today while out birding looking for a Cattle Egret I was greeted with this beautiful Snowy Owl! Beautiful owl. Completely white with variable amount of black markings. In general, old males are the whitest, while immature females have the most dark markings. Favors lakeshores and coastal areas with fields, marshes, piers, and sand dunes in winter. Breeds on arctic tundra and irrupts south in numbers only some winters.
