I have been a small business owner for almost 14 years now! Wowza!! This entire journey has been a rollercoaster! This all started with a creative passion and zero knowledge on how to run an actual business. But I had a HUGE desire to learn, grow and invest in myself and I MADE IT HAPPEN. I'm proud of myself for that. I wouldn't trade this experience for the world. The lessons learned are truly unmeasurable.
To my clients, family (especially my husband) and community, thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support. Thank you for choosing me to photograph your personal moments. Thank you for letting me in and sharing your joys and pain. I won't ever forget those who have touched my heart. Thank you to the community that supported me 100% of the way. So many people let me use their land to shoot at or found me special props and even studio spaces. I will never forget where my roots started and those that supported me. My husband and best friend truly deserve their own special post for listening to my crazy ideas over the years and helping me make insane sh*t happen.
If you're still with me, I know you'd like an answer to why I'm closing my business. I still do love photography but a real business does not run on feelings. This business started out as something fun which led to making "real living". My family relied on my income but let's face it, the economy has not been that great the past few years. While photography is a beautiful form of art, it's also not a necessity to live when families are struggling. Finding new clients that value the art and my knowledge are getting harder and harder to find. I've prayed about so many different struggles over the last 14 years and God has always provided. Always. And this is just another one of those things.
I AM OK!! I am extremely content with this decision. Running a small business is not for the faint of heart. It's work 24/7 It's a constant hustle and I am ready for a slow down. In fact, a new chapter of my life has already started. I accepted a job in marketing with a medical company. Once again, God has shown me a clear path and I'm choosing to follow Him.
