Boeing E-6B Mercury (707-320B) doing touch and goes at KMFR on 3/21/26. Possibly from VQ-3 out of Tinker Air Force Base, the E-6B is equipped to relay survivable communications to U.S. nuclear forces and serve as an airborne launch control platform. Its primary missions include TACAMO, airborne nuclear command and control, and support for the launch of U.S. land-based ICBMs.
TACAMO stands for “Take Charge and Move Out,” a mission focused on maintaining secure communications with U.S. strategic forces, especially ballistic missile submarines. The E-6B also carries the Airborne Launch Control System (ALCS), which allows it to support command and control of land-based ICBMs.
Note: ATC audio is included for reference and may not perfectly align with the video.
