The house is part of the story, too.

When you book an in-home newborn session, of course we’re documenting your new baby… the tiny details, the snuggles, the way they fit perfectly in your arms.

But we’re also documenting the place you brought them home to.

The nursery you spent months getting ready. The couch where you’ve logged countless hours feeding and rocking.

Someday, the crib will be gone. The toys will change. You may even live somewhere completely different.

And suddenly, the background of these photos won’t feel like the background at all.

It’ll be the place where so much of your family’s story happened.

That’s one of my favorite things about lifestyle newborn sessions. We’re not trying to make your home look perfect.

We’re remembering what home looked and felt like when they were this little🤍

Family photos should include the whole family. And sometimes, that means four legs and a whole lot of fur.

When we started planning this session, we talked about what felt like *them*, and their dog was a big part of that.

So instead of trying to squeeze him into a few perfectly posed photos, we let him be part of the evening — walking, playing, loving on his people and occasionally doing whatever he wanted😂

And honestly? Those are some of my favorite images from the whole session.

Your family photos don’t have to be perfectly behaved to be meaningful. They just need to feel like you.

So yes. Bring the dog🤍

Apparently team planning at my house now also includes impromptu headshots in the kitchen😂

My talented teammate Taylor snapped these while she was over helping me plan for fall, and with so many new faces around here lately, it felt like a good excuse to say hi and reintroduce myself.

I’m Lindsey… photographer, mom of 3 and the person who has been behind this little corner of the internet for more than a decade.

I picked up my first camera just a few weeks before my oldest son was born (15 years ago!). The newborn photos I took when he was born were far from perfect, but I still love them.

And I think that’s probably where all of this really started.

Three kids later, I understand even more how quickly the little things change and how much photographs grow in value as the years pass.

And these days, it’s not just me behind the lens.

Taylor, Ashley and Jess will all be shooting alongside me this fall. Having people I trust to care for our families and photograph them with the same heart behind this business has allowed us to serve so many more of you. We work together behind the scenes, plan together, share ideas and are constantly thinking about how we can make your experience even better.

I still photograph sessions. I still edit. I still answer emails, create style boards, dream up ideas, obsess over your galleries and probably spend way too much time thinking about photos in general😂

But after all these years, the reason behind it really hasn’t changed.

I know what it feels like to look at a photograph and realize you can’t quite remember your child being that little anymore.

So whether it’s me or one of my teammates behind the camera, the goal is the same: to give you photographs of your family as they are right now — the people, personalities and little details you’ll want back someday.

If you’re new here, I’m so glad you found us. And if you’ve been here for years (and maybe even trusted us with multiple babies along the way), thank you for continuing to let us be part of your family’s story🤍

I usually see this sweet family a little later in the fall, but this year we decided to switch things up and squeeze in their family photos before school started.

And I’m so glad we did!

We worked together on styling beforehand… although Rachael gets most of the credit here. So cute!

As kids get older, family photos can feel a little different. They’re more aware of the camera. Sometimes a little more hesitant to let their guard down.

So we tried hard not to force it.

We played. We moved. We laughed. And little by little, everyone settled in and their personalities came out.

I love how much this gallery feels like them in this season🤍

I went away for a photography retreat and came home with…

a million new ideas.
a few things I want to do differently.
a lot of excitement for what’s ahead.

…and a really good reminder that sometimes stepping away from your work is exactly what makes you excited to come back to it🤍

Thank you MELISSA SOTO - Florida Family & Newborn Photographer & The Storyhood Co. | Photography Community & Education for pampering us while getting our minds right for fall photo season!

A weekend that filled my cup🤍

I spent the last few days on the coast with an incredible group of photographers from up and down the East Coast — learning, sharing ideas, talking business and getting inspired by one another. All thanks to a retreat hosted by The Storyhood Co. | Photography Community & Education

And I’m coming home with SO many ideas.

We photographed the sweetest family on the beach and experimented with some things I’ve been wanting to try.

Heading into one of the busiest seasons of the year, I feel really grateful to have had a few days to step away, learn and think creatively about what I want to bring into my sessions this fall.

My cup is full. My camera roll is VERY full😂 And my brain might be the fullest of all.

Richmond friends: stay tuned because I have a few ideas I’m dying to try at home… and I’ll be putting out a model call soon👀

Feeling very excited for what’s ahead🤍

This is what it looks like when a family session feels like *you.*

Before last night’s session, Katie Wilson Photography filled out her questionnaire and spent time thinking about what would make the session truly feel like her family.

Then we met at the park where they love to spend time after dinner.

They walked. They played. They loved on their dog… who is such a huge part of their family. And we documented them exactly as they are in a place that already holds so many everyday memories for them.

I’ve had the honor of photographing her fam before, which made it even more special to create something that felt so personal and so completely them.

This is exactly what I want your session to be… one built around your actual life and the people and places you love.

I am SO excited about this one🤍

While everyone is sharing first-day-of-school photos this week, I keep thinking about all the little “firsts” that come before.

The first hours.
The first snuggles.
The first open eyes.

If you’re expecting a baby this fall, consider this your quiet reminder that these first moments are worth remembering, too🤍
