I hate to admit it but I’ve missed two boxes “Jumping” this year at The CreekShack.
Normally they’ll Jump first thing in the morning….Normally.
For whatever reason this year they have Jumped in late afternoon/early evening…& I’ve missed it.
At least they’re hanging around The CreekShack

I was Thrilled to catch this Hen in that Beautiful Morning Light

Here’s the 2nd Turtle to lay at The CreekShack - that we witnessed.
It started at 5:50 this morning when I watched this Snapper make her way across the Lower 40.
She decided to lay in the same Flower Bed as the Map Turtle….but on the other end.
They know it’s easy digging.
She took her time laying & the entire process took 2hrs 23 minutes.
As you can see she wasn’t as thorough at covering up the nesting site.
No Worries as I covered it up and put a marker in the ground.
Now we wait 🤞🤞

So after a rainy weekend....I ran South to check on the Rookery at Kiwanis Lake yesterday afternoon & see if I could get some shots.
There's a lot going on there from nests full of Great Egret Chicks to a couple of Black-Crowned Night Herons still in the construction process.
Figured I'd share a video of a GE Nest full of Chicks in case you never got to see this....Super Cool to watch.
And Yes - it really is that LOUD

It comes from street slang for a G***k pistol with an extended clip as it resembles a Hot Dog.
It doesn’t matter what you call them - I like mine doubled up, lots of yellow mustard with fried onion & sauerkraut - BAM!!! 😋😋
