My Orioles have left :-(

We Truly enjoy them in our back yard. We have a number of Tropical Hibiscus in our yard. They used it often as a launching point to get to our Oriole feeder. They also were non-stop, in and out of the many trees in our backyard.

Subtle Beauty, and Vibrant Beauty.

I will be waiting for them next Spring. :-)

These Bulls are Massive...
They become so large that they just start looking Like a Blocky animal... No longer sleek and defined muscle... Just BIG.
The Palms of their Antlers, shine like a Beacon through the woods. And they are easy to spot more than a mile away. Their Antlers also funnel sounds to their ears, so they can hear better. They can glide, without effort, through underbrush and terrain we could barely crawl through. Amazing animals!!

I Won't Forget the Ladies...

Female Moose are every bit as likely to charge a photographer as the Males, especially if they have a Calf. Females will often run off Grizzlie Bears while protecting their young. All Moose should be respected, and given a adequate distance, so they don't feel threatened.

Celebrating World Photography Week!!

The Common Yellowthroat. I have never been able to get a good photo of one. I finally found a concentration of them in a CRP field and spent two mornings in pursuit...

They have to be one of the hardest bird subjects I have ever tried to photograph. They constantly move and prefer to do that through thick cover. many times, I had them within 4 or 5 feet, bouncing through the stems of the weeds and wildflowers, only showing a glimpse now and then.

Ok how bad...?? I sat in one spot for over an hour, with two males within 30 feet, and never snapped a photo. They never showed themselves, or sat still long enough for me to snap one.

But, the rewards (which I will share this week) I think were worth it. This bird is quite common in my area But I would bet that less than 1% of the people around here, have ever seen one...
