Throwing it back to this beautiful day at to share a little State Of The Union Address.
✨Short Version: yes I’m still here, yes I still do photography…just, not as much. On purpose. By design.✨
2022 marks FIFTEEN YEARS of Cortnie Dee Photography. (And considering I turn thirty this month…I’ve been doing photography for basically half of my life.)
It is weird to say this, but photography is no longer my full-time career - and not for a lack of love. I made the decision last year after lots of pandemic-reframing that I wanted to scale this business way, way back to make space for my newer business baby, .
I am still taking weddings - 10 per year! - and have room for 2 more this year. I am going to be phasing out portraits (and likely bo***ir) altogether by the end of the year, unless I decide to do annual minis/marathons.
Weddings will ALWAYS have my heart. Helping tell love stories brings me joy like nothing else. I just want to do it less often, so that I can give it more of myself, if that makes sense.
So, still here - just quiet. Social media will be updated rarely, as my marketing energy is elsewhere. But if you need someone to snap your wedding day and provide you with bad dance moves, I’m still here, with love and endless gratitude 💕

Very different than normal posts here BUT I’ve gotten so much joy out of photographing the sights here in Iceland. I rarely use my camera outside of work…but that may need to change.
I have some beautiful shots in color, but something about these in black and white was just… *chefs kiss*.

Hello from in front of the lens! (Well, currently in front of my phone and laptop, taking a break from emails and remembering I have an instagram account.)

I don’t post my mug here often, but hey! It’s me! Wearing makeup and not having my hair in a bun! A rare vision for us all.

If we’ve yet to meet, I’m Cortnie Dee. I’m loud, I’m deeply sarcastic (but also terribly gullible, a dangerous combo), and a lover of terrible dance moves.

On the work-side of life, I’ve been a photographer for 14 years (“BUT YOU LOOK LIKE YOU ARE ONLY 15” - everyone, ever), weddings for 11. I also run a web design company ( 🎉) and I love all the magic and chaos that comes with running two very fulfilling businesses.
Being a business owner during this pandemic has taught me A LOT, but mostly that I am allowed to slow down. I went from 25+ weddings per year to 10-15 by choice, and it is giving me the ability to connect on a more personal level with my clients. I never want to simply take a photo; I want to KNOW my people, to see them and honor them, no matter the occasion. (I will whisper tiny affirmations to newborns during shoots. I see you, baby, encouraging you from day one.)

All this to say: I’m almost to capacity for 2022. So if you’re getting married and still needing a photographer? Hi! I am fun! I don’t like wedding cake so more for you!!
I’m also looking to expand my fashion/editorial portfolio. If you own a beauty brand or are a designer, let’s connect and create something wild together.

This woman, my office neighbor, dream-sister, fashion designer 💕
Before we had the chance to meet, I was told by my family that she and I would be fast friends.
Understatement of the year. Keisha became family immediately. She is full of passion, vulnerability, a raw honest approach to her work that is so inspiring I’ve had to stop myself from crying a few times.
This woman exudes strength and grace, a patience and trust that I’ll never master. She is GOOD, to her core.
Also, she laughs at my stupid jokes and lets me fangirl over her all the time. (It is a miracle I get anything done when we’re both in our offices because I just want to oooh and aaahhh over her magic.)
This woman is building an empire, a lasting legacy. I’m so proud to know her and to call her my friend 💕

“You’re going to freak when you see my shoes.” Marina wasn’t lying - these pumps were the PERFECT “something blue”. And Hailey’s wedding wedges were gorgeous too!
If you want wild, dreamy detail shots, set everything you want photographed aside for me and let me play! I promise to try not to drool over how beautiful everything is 💁🏻‍♀️

Step One: fly to Omaha
Step Two: wake up at 5:15, grab coffee from the cutest corner coffee shop, drive to a gorgeous hilltop park (warning: ears will pop)
Step Three: take happy, silly sunrise engagement photos, commenting a lot about how much LOVE there is to capture
Step Four: after moving to a second location, return to airbnb and do a happy dance.
I LOVED having the opportunity to fly out for and Ty’s engagement session! When we connected for their Dallas wedding, I mentioned I’d be over the moon to go to them in Omaha for their engagement session. I was thrilled when they took me up on it!
I can’t wait to snap more memories for them at their wedding at - with the planning queen at my side!

“I didn’t know you did bo***ir!” I hear this often. Because I take my clients’ privacy VERY very seriously, I don’t feel comfortable sharing client-bo***ir anywhere. The catch? Selling bo***ir sessions to people who don’t know me is quite difficult.
So, I hire models from time to time to come play! This absolute gem of a women - - came and rocked out a session at with the incomparable and I am over the moon with how they turned out!
Bo***ir is so personal and vulnerable, and is always shaped to reflect YOU. What do YOU love about your body? How can we highlight your favorite features, while using posing to make sure you’re feeling confident and secure with the parts of your body you may not be wild about?
I want to celebrate you - your stories, your magic, your YOUness.

This snuggly, silly, warm family is expecting their next tiny human and I am over the whole moon about it. I’ve been lucky to know Spring and Brad for several years now (what is time?!) and have been honored to document their family as it grows. When I say my clients turn into extended family for me, I do mean it.
(Also, mega shoutout to for being a tiny slice of farmhouse heaven.)

One of my favorite shots to capture: a pulled back view of couples in their favorite place. We pick locations based on how beautiful the place is...why not show it?! I had a blast running around the rose garden with Isobel and Anthony!
