In limbo.
Labor — when you’re in between pregnancy & growing your baby, but before the point of meeting them face to face. Such a magically beautiful, hard, scary, wonderful time filled with mixed emotions & fatigue & anticipation, and just all of the things. Highs & lows. Don’t forget to take the time to breathe and soak in these beautiful “in-between” moments with your partner too. ❤️ This day is one of a kind, and it’ll be done before you know it. The good & the bad….no matter if it goes the way of your ideal birth or not….its you & your baby’s story. It’s one you’ll be telling for years to come. Full of emotions. Full of love. Full of strength. Full of beauty. All leading you to the moment you first lay your eyes on your baby boy or girl. Soak it in. Be proud of yourself. Remember the good and the bad. The easy & the hard. Brag on yourself a bit, mama. ❤️

Thank you to all my beautiful 2023 families who entrusted me with your most special time of your life. Whether as your doula, photographer, or doulatog. I’m so happy to have been with you for your family’s big day. (Also, not mentioned are my childbirth clients, maternity/family photog clients, and placenta encapsulation clients….you all mean so much to me too! Thank you for letting me serve you!!!) ❤️

Listed here are my birth families from Jan-Sept in 2023. After which I took a much-needed hiatus. It’s been a GREAT year, and I’m excited to see what next year holds!!! (BIG NEWS coming soon!)

What a beautiful family. 🤍
I don’t often photograph families anymore but when I do it’s usually past clients. This sweet mama was a past maternity photo and birth doula client of mine who birthed at & who’s baby is now 1! 😩😭 And he’s just the most precious little guy which such a big personality! It was so good to catch up with them!

The anxious excited wait time… just before labor hits and your baby is born & finally in your arms. It’s such a bittersweet time. You’re soo beyond ready to see your baby’s face & hold them & kiss them and hear their sweet first cries. You’re over being big & pregnant and sore & tired all of the time. But you’ll also miss feeling them inside you, watching your bump grow, & “dressing up” the bump. Later, you’ll miss some of the independence and spontaneity your life had pre-baby. But you will soon wonder how you ever lived without your sweet baby in your life. Cherish these fleeting last moments of pregnancy & couple time with your partner. Try not to wish them away. Your time to meet your baby will come soon enough. Every moment is a blessing.

If you guys saw my recent stories posts, and as you may have noticed, I’ve been absent for a bit. On a work hiatus. My hiatus will continue over the holidays but I’ll be accepting birth clients with March due dates and beyond!!! Spread the word! Availability post coming soon.

Partners —

NEVER underestimate your power for her in labor. A simple hug, slow dance, hand hold, “I love you”, caress on her face, kiss, “I’m so proud of you”, “You’re so strong”, back massage, hip squeeze, offering water, etc…. All of these mean 10000000x more coming from you, than anyone else.

YOU know her best. YOU know her nonverbal cues, YOU know her ticks & her comforts, YOU know her love language, YOU can interpret that simple look or moan from her…. She knows you, she loves you, she trusts you.

We as doulas are there to support you both, to educate you on your options, to provide suggestions when labors not progressing, to provide in-the-moment info, to give you a break when needed, to pray for/with you, to encourage & empower you, and to help YOU be her hero.

I hope if I was your doula that I helped you & your wife in all these ways & more. I hope that no matter your birth story, you left feeling supported & empowered & heard & respected. 🤍 I hope all of this & more for all people when reflecting on their baby’s birth experience.

This precious boy is the same baby from my previous post …at his delayed herbal bath . He was about 8 weeks old here — Mama had to wait 6 weeks for her herbal bath due to her c-section but, man was this summer bath BEAUTIFUL!!! And this little guy was enjoying it!

Hydrotherapy can help people cope with labor pain and avoid medical interventions during labor.
Being in water during active & transitional labor can help your labor progress faster. However, when women are in water during early labor, sometimes contractions can slow down or even stop for a while. So timing is key. If you want to utilize hydrotherapy in early labor, a shower can be a better option to try!!! 🚿
