Christmas 2026 is here.
This year, I wanted to create something more than a collection of Christmas backgrounds. I wanted each setting to give children a different story to step into.
The Christmas Mural Room — elegant, timeless and filled with old-world Christmas warmth.
The Toymaker's Map Room — playful, adventurous and filled with the toys, maps and Christmas secrets of Santa's world.
Star of Wonder — a quieter, faith-centered experience where Santa shares with the children the original story of Christmas.
Three very different Christmas stories.
And for a few precious years, children still have the wonder to believe every one of them.
Which Christmas story will be theirs?

The First Tutu
The photograph began with a simple thought: what if she could reach back and touch the little girl who first fell in love with ballet?
The first tutu. The tiny slippers. A quiet rehearsal room. Soft window light. Every element was chosen to tell that story.
This was the idea.

A first look at Christmas 2026!
This year, I wanted to create something that felt less like a Christmas set and more like a room that had been waiting for Christmas for generations.
A quiet old-world interior, a timeworn winter village painted into the walls, warm window light, and just enough Christmas to let the people in the portrait remain the story.

It started with a conversation after church. "Hey Butch, are you still out fishing, did you grow up fishing with your dad like we did? Then I found out his father didn't particularly like fishing, but he loved his son. It was simply where they would spend time together. The empty chair is where his dad used to sit, his Bible is open to words they shared years ago, because he is still part of the story.

Reaching for Childhood
Today, her mother saw this portrait for the first time.
That little tutu wasn't chosen for the photograph. It was her very first tutu — the beginning of a story that has followed her through the years.
I wanted to create something about more than dance. Something about looking back at the little girl she once was, while seeing the young lady she has become.
When Mom saw it today, her expression told me we had created exactly that.
Some photographs record what someone looks like.
The ones I love most preserve what a moment in their life meant.

There are places that seem to hold the stories of generations.

Inspired by the old stone arches and timeless character of San Antonio, I imagined a portrait that felt as though it could have belonged to another era—warm, elegant, and rooted in a sense of place.

Because the most meaningful portraits aren't really about how we look today.

Sometimes a portrait isn't really about what someone looks like.
It's about where they spent their time.
The things their hands knew how to do.
The chair they always sat in.
The work they loved.
And the way we will always remember them.
We photograph childhood because we know how quickly it passes. Perhaps we should think the same way about the people who gave us ours.
