As many of you are aware, I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer in February of this year and underwent a total thyroidectomy in April.

Some little known facts about thyroid cancer:
1. It has had the fastest increase in incidence of any cancer in recent years.
2. It affects people of all ages, from young children to seniors. Both women and men get thyroid cancer--more than two-thirds are women.
3. When found early, thyroid cancer is usually treatable.

A simple neck check done by a medical professional during a routine appointment can detect a thyroid nodule. Most nodules are benign, not cancer.

I am blessed that my thyroid cancer was caught early and had not spread to any area outside the thyroid. Regardless, it is a lifetime of medication (which have to be constantly adjusted) and routine blood work and scans.
