Billy Garrett Photography Welcome and Hello!! I am a photographer with over 40 years experience behind the camera. Now I go out and enjoy what I am doing now.

In my early years I gained a lot of experience from working as a freelance photographer with a local newspaper.

Well once again it was an amazing night to watch a bunch of young and talented athletes play an amazing game of Volleyball. Folks you really need to come out and watch and support our local athletes. Oh and they have great food in the concession stand also. Unfortually the Varsity and JV lost to Middlesex this evening, however it was still a great game played. Also tonight the Mathews Volleyball Teams had "Pink Out" tonight were they honored those that beat cancer, those fighting cancer and also ones that cancer took away from us. Money was raised to be donated to the Mathews Strides Against Breast Cancer Foundation. And talk about a very memorable moment... After the team introductions they could not get the National Anthem to play on the speakers. So the audience in the stands from both teams and the players sang the National Anthem loudly and proudly! Here are some action shots from both the JV and Varsity Games. ***Contact me if you would like an image without my watermark. ***

People you will need to come out next year to watch this amazing event that the Mathews Volunteer Fire Department puts on as a fund raiser. Not only is this a great event, there is lots of action on the water with boat captains of all ages racing to see who can dock their boat for the fastest times. This year Mathews VFD hosted the Triple Crown and Oyster Shucking Contest to go with this event. Pictured is Derek Hoy who not only crushed the competition he also crushed a couple pylons also for the victory. More pictures to follow as soon as I finish going through them all.

Today I ventured over to the Poquoson Learning Garden in Poquoson. It was a little breezy in the morning and trying to get those flowers to behave was a hard task... I was looking to find textures as my subject for the day. There were many types of textures to see and enjoy. I am learning more and more on getting better with my macro lens. A macro lens will take you into a new world of amazing beauty that we have taken for granted. More to come!

The Aliens have landed at the Poquoson Learning Garden!!! Image was captured using my Nikon z9 with a 105 macro lens.

Mathews we need to give these young Men a huge round of applause and support. I photographed the Virginia State Semi Final Boys Varsity Soccer Playoff yesterday at Mathews High School. The Mathews Varsity 1A Boys Soccer Team played against NorthHampton's Varsity Boys Soccer Team for a chance to advance to the next round in the finals. Unfortunately our young Men did not come out victorious however they played an amazing game. Over the last couple of years the students and athletes of Mathews High School have been showing other school districts that we are a team hard to beat. Please take the time to start following and attending our home games to watch some very talented young athletes perform.— with Amy Wilson O'Neil at Mathews High School Athletics.
