People you will need to come out next year to watch this amazing event that the Mathews Volunteer Fire Department puts on as a fund raiser. Not only is this a great event, there is lots of action on the water with boat captains of all ages racing to see who can dock their boat for the fastest times. This year Mathews VFD hosted the Triple Crown and Oyster Shucking Contest to go with this event. Pictured is Derek Hoy who not only crushed the competition he also crushed a couple pylons also for the victory. More pictures to follow as soon as I finish going through them all.

Today I ventured over to the Poquoson Learning Garden in Poquoson. It was a little breezy in the morning and trying to get those flowers to behave was a hard task... I was looking to find textures as my subject for the day. There were many types of textures to see and enjoy. I am learning more and more on getting better with my macro lens. A macro lens will take you into a new world of amazing beauty that we have taken for granted. More to come!

Mathews we need to give these young Men a huge round of applause and support. I photographed the Virginia State Semi Final Boys Varsity Soccer Playoff yesterday at Mathews High School. The Mathews Varsity 1A Boys Soccer Team played against NorthHampton's Varsity Boys Soccer Team for a chance to advance to the next round in the finals. Unfortunately our young Men did not come out victorious however they played an amazing game. Over the last couple of years the students and athletes of Mathews High School have been showing other school districts that we are a team hard to beat. I photographed the Virginia State Semi Final Girls Varsity Soccer Playoff yesterday at Mathews High School. The Mathews Varsity 1A Girls Soccer Team played against Bruton's 2A Varsity Girls Soccer Team for a chance to advance to the next round in the finals.
