My heart goes out to the victim of yesterday’s incident and the family. Here are some thing to remember:
• Wait until the investigation tells us more. In the early moments, there’s a lot of stories and assumptions that spread, mainly from people at the scene who are still in shock. It’s natural to want to know what happened, but it may take time to get an accurate answer.
• Don’t spread the onride photo. A person lost their life. Please respect the victim and the family and don’t spread the photo. They’re going through a hard enough time as it is.
• Roller coasters are safe. While they are built to be thrilling machines, safety is always at the forefront. When an incident happens, the news will spread quickly and assumptions will be made that the ride just wasn’t safe. The truth is that incidents are so rare that it makes headlines and shocks us (similar to airline incidents). Remember, you’re more likely to get into MULTIPLE accidents on your car ride to the park than you are to be injured on a coaster.
