I'm so happy to share with my followers a sneak peek of my time with the lovely Hayden. Hayden's beautiful momma, Amy, was a dear friend of mine. Amy & I used to work together at the Enterprise Newspaper a million years ago. She was a staff photographer when I started as a reporter. Amy very generously photographed my Quissett wedding and it felt like a full-circle moment when I got to photograph Hayden's senior photos a few weeks ago at Quissett Harbor.
There were so many parallels in my and Amy's life. Like me, she was one of three girls in her family. She loved photography and was brilliant at it. We shared similar struggles and joys, passions and pet peeves....and lots of good stuff in between. Sadly, two years ago, Amy was diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma. Heartbreakingly, she died on February 17, the anniversary of my mom's death, exactly 29 years ago to the day. I had just come back from settling my dad back at home, after he'd been hospitalized with sepsis, during a long and difficult bladder cancer journey. He died, five months later.
None of this is really what I want to be saying as I present photos from Hayden's super fun and really beautiful senior portrait session, but it was all very much on my mind and in my heart the day we got together at Quissett Harbor, where Amy & I had made some beautiful memories together 31 years earlier. Getting to do this for Hayden healed something in me. I felt Amy with me every step of the way and I see so much of Amy's beautiful, soulful spirit in her stunning daughter.
Hayden, thank you so much for allowing me to share this special time in your life with you! You are full of love and light and having you in front of my camera for a few hours was magical and reminded me why I love being a photographer. Thank you!!!
Thank you too to Eric and Holt for joining us for a few photos. And thank you Amy, for everything you bring to my life. I feel you with me still and I'm so very grateful for that!
With lots of love and wishes for a wonderful Senior year, I give you....Hayden. š„°
