Comet C/2025 R3 PanSTARRS this morning, a day out from perhelion, it's closest position to the sun. It will disappear in the light of sun in a few days. So glad I was able to capture it! Look closely and you will see the large group of cormorants sleeping in the tree below it, caught in the pre-dawn, and ambient light.

One of last night's aurora photos. Taken at Sand Lake in Marshalltown. The colorful sky Is so beautifully reflected on the water. This resulted from two X-class solar flares arriving at earth and setting off a G4 magnetic storm. How fortunate to be able to witness and capture my second huge storm and aurora in central Iowa.

Not to be left out, here's Pinky. She's the smallest of our foster siblings. She's just as playful and just so sweet! When the play is done and it's time for a nap, Pinky is sure to take over big brother Beo's favorite spot in the window for a nice nap.
Let me know if you are interested in adopting one of these foster babies. Marshalltown Feral Support has other kitties available as well, and are always looking for foster families, volunteers, and donations.

I had an image in mind when spending several hours waiting for comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS. I wanted to capture the comet with the Marshall County Courthouse, across Sand Lake. The comet was visible following sunset. My finished work combined four separate photos taken from just before sunset until after dark. My vision was well achieved. I only wish I knew who the boater was so I could be sure they see the photo as well. If anyone knows someone who was fishing on Sand Lake at sunset on October 15, please let them know.
