The land of is brimming with peace and magic that pours into all that gather there and High Lonesome so beautifully embodies this essence 🫶

It was such a joy to experience all of the incredible music and connection at this festival and share some songs on the out-of-this-world busking loop! They built these awesome structures along the trail down to the creek for people to sing and hike and enjoy the goodness of nature and song together:')

I am super excited to be playing at a couple spots this week!!

An attempt to write the unwritten
in language of feelings
Lost, but never hidden

I seek here, not to find,
but to unfurl the tendrils
of rigid patterns in the mind

Feeling, an explosion
A soul welling with emotion
An ocean of devotion
Trapped within a cage
Crying out for change
The tears in drops of rain

Sometimes the mind feels like a fire extinguisher to the flame of the soul. Thinking and overthinking and thinking again, suppressing the feelings and energy and creative spark within in attempt to be safe and to feel grounded in the business of life.

Perfectionism, doubt, laziness, fear, and many other things form a barrier around the natural flow of life. A dance of balance in this ever shifting world is a dance I yearn to learn. To surrender feels frightening when the mind wants control over all the many things to do. But hopeful in the seeking of this balance and I have missed taking time sit with words and share photos!

This is a photo from a trip to Colorado last summer:) The sky was brilliant and the campfire was a perfect warm light for some wacky late night camera musings. That spark of creative childlike joy that often feels hard to find beneath the layers of the overthinking mind was wild and alive.

These days and nights of coming spring feel like a breath of fresh air and reflection on this past winter, a season that's felt dark in different ways and time a concept feeling so strange.

Very very grateful for all of the bright bright shining stars in this life that make even the darkest nights feel so light 🧡✨

Here's to spring and the ever-shifting seasons of Life 🌠

Feeling gratitude for this semester and excitement for its coming culmination 🧡

I think I forgot how to make coherent Instagram posts but want to share a couple exciting events at Joliet Junior College this weekend:

Tomorrow, Friday the 6th at 7:30 PM Jazz Band will be playing tunes from Benny Carter's album Central City Sketches 💥🍁 It's been so cool to witness all of the talent in this band and see how the music comes together through the semester and mannnnn just feeling it all hit you and hearing the incredible solos has been such a treat! I've been falling quite in love with this beautiful bass throughout the semester and am stoked to get to play her on a few tunes tomorrow 🤓

Saturday at 3 pm is a Steel Band concert which is such a joy to hear and an instrument and ensemble with fascinating history originating in Trinidad and Tobago 🥁

Sunday at 3 pm is our choir concert with two choirs and lots of jolly old tunes from classical to some wacky jazz!

A few photos of performing under the stars at this past weekend✨

They are both incredibly talented songwriters and musicians and such fascinating and wholesome people to get to know! I am beyond inspired by their music, kindness, and the love and hard work that Christina has poured into bringing freshness to this little corner of the Midwest by creating this space for so many musicians, artists, vendors, and awesome people from all over the area to come together and enjoy each other's presence and the beauty of nature 🫶

Beyond the Stars will be sharing their stories and songs around Illinois these next few days with the wildly creative and talented (playing in the last photo)! A somewhat rare treat as they spend much of their time traveling and touring the country, so I recommend experiencing the magic of their music while it blesses these Midwestern lands 🧙🌜🌌

They are playing at tonight and a river cruise show in Ottawa tomorrow! The 6th photo in this post is from when they played on the riverboat last month, which was absolutely dreamy ⛅🌅

Super excited and honored to get to play some tunes at with these talented and inspirational musicians and many more!!

Original, local music will be shared tomorrow (September 7) from noon-10pm at Illini State Park in Marseilles, IL 🧡🌻🦋

Bring camping chairs, blankets, crafts, and friends to support local artists, enjoy the serenity of nature, and tie dye some shirts with sweet sweet people!!

Ah, and most importantly.......
Come on out to celebrate the brilliant, hilarious, kind, loving, and all around amazing gal on her birthday!! Demi and her music have been such a blessing in my life and this world and I cannot wait to celebrate all of the goodness that she is 🥳🫶✨
