I get asked a lot about why I started doing fire photography. I always answer with, “It all happened by accident… well, because of an accident!” 😂 The first night I got to photograph was just because I was stuck in a parking lot while they worked the scene of an MVA.
The real reason is so much more than that. Every firefighter you see in these pictures is a volunteer. Yes, read that again… they are volunteers. When those tones drop at 2:00 AM for a fire, most of them are jumping out of their beds at home to serve their community—or even neighboring communities.
I didn’t start doing this for me; I started doing this so everyone can see how passionate these individuals are about what they do. They risk their own lives, over and over again, to care for our communities. (REMINDER: AS VOLUNTEERS)
If their dedication inspires you as much as it inspires me, I encourage you to give back to these incredible volunteers in any way you can. Consider donating to your local fire districts; every little bit helps them maintain equipment and provide the best possible care for our communities.
Additionally, local businesses can play a vital role by supporting these heroes. Donating food, supplies, or even offering discounts can make a huge difference. Let’s come together to show our appreciation for their selflessness and bravery.
Remember, it takes a village to support those who protect it. Your support not only strengthens our fire departments but also fosters a sense of community. Let’s give back!
