A frozen harbor completely changes how we see the familiar. The town spills out onto the ice for pickup hockey and afternoon skates, looking up at the massive ore dock from a perspective we rarely get. There is a sudden, communal joy in walking where the deep water should be. It reminds us that shifting our vantage point on the outside world is sometimes the only way to recognize who we are becoming on the inside.
